thanks for uploading this! others were actually 'exercise in A-flat minor' (bad turntable). this saved me from a headache when i was figuring out the song.
I've been searching for this tune for some time now, & very happy to have finally found it- this is one of the VERY few covers of a revered classical composition that actually achieves the musical quality of the original, easily better than the A side tune ("Joy") to which it was a B side.

I was like 12 when this came out but already a budding musician. My sister had the "Joy" 45. I flipped it over, and heard this and couldn't believe such an amazing piece of music wasn't on the radio. I guess it wasn't "pop" enough or something but the melody was so enchanting I'd play it over and over. Great video too. Thanks much!
That's Marie Antoinette! hey, check out my YouTube channels, SLOBOMOTION, NICEDAYDOG, and CUTECATFAITH, from here in Paris, France! Should be running in a few days. Thank you for posting this. I loved this as a young teen!
Thanks for posting, this was a big influence on me. I had to play Bach on acoustic guitar as a youngster. I am now in France, and recommend reading the great bio on Marie by the British lady.
This is the flipside to their one huge hit "Joy," from the spring of 1972. I played this by accident one time (I put the record on the turntable upside down), and found a B side that I liked even better than the A side.
From what I can recall, Apollo 100 wasn't actually a group per se, but the work of one man, studio musician Tom Parker. He played all the instruments, did the arrangements, and also wrote Excercise In A Minor. Quite a gifted guy!
Apollo 100 was a short-lived British instrumental studio based group that had a hit with the Johann Sebastian Bach-inspired single "Joy" in 1972.
Tom Parker put together the band in 1972, with drummer Clem Cattini, guitarist Vic Flick, guitarist Zed Jenkins, percussionist Jim Lawless and bassist Brian Odgers. Their first single, "Joy", rose to number 6 on the pop singles chart in the US. None of their subsequent efforts was as successful, and they broke up in 1973.
It's too bad that they were a short lived group.
They played some really good music.
