i have zsnes downloaded on my computer to play snes games on, and i got a playstation controller adapter for it from radio shack for around 15 US dollars, granted you can't hook up a ps3 controller to it but it accept ps1 and 2 controllers, and logitech makes a sweet ps2 wireless controller, any ways this is awesome, killer instinct is the bomb

@WAMadden4 nope. Its a CRT HDTV. Not all HDTVs are flat screen. The dimensions of the set (16:9) should tip you off that its not a SDTV.

the driver for the controller does not associate with that aspect. The controller works fine as you can see in this video its just that it will blink. I feature the controller in another video "emulation on the ps3 made easy" check it out.

for most emulators wireless works fine with little configuration. The only one you may have issue with is genesis but there is a fix for it.

Hey just wondering if you are using RGB scart since I have a tv that looks similar but its a Trinitron(may be old though as manual shows a PS1 Slim!) whenever I use RGB scart I get a green screen and only half the screen area is used. When I say green screen I mean the picture is there and YDL is usable but it is green similar to when playing a DVD.

Yes, you can.

But you must download emulators for i386 or amd64 platform.

That is only correct if you intend to run the emulators on your x86 based desktop pc. If you are going to run these in ubuntu on the ps3 then you you will still need the ppc versions.

depends mostly on the resolution you are using, and then the emulator settings and game to some degree.

yellow dog linux supports many usb plug and play devices. I have tested a couple pc controllers on the system and they work fine. So chances are yes, but I haven't tested your particular stick so I cant say it absolutely work.

the decision as to whether or not its worth it is ultimately up to you. this will not replace you desktop it just gives extra functionality to your ps3. so you you would like to do some old school gaming on your tv using a DS3 then give it a try.

Once in linux you do not have to swap disks to play different systems. want to play a different system then just double click the icon to the emulator for that system.

they are slower then your desktop but fast enough for a number of funtions, as seen in this as well as my other yd videos. further emulating systems on your ps3 on your tv though your surround sound system is a little more authentic then playing on your PC. also its more conducive to multiplayer.

For playing SNES on your little laptop screen I suggest using the Super Nintendo emulator for windows know as zsnes. If you want to play these classic games on a large screen in your living room using your ps3 see my guide in the description.

quite old. The newest PC game I was able to run is the original starcraft. I made a video of it running on my ps3 check it out. I also have a video of me playing a number of classic PC/DOS games. feel free to give that one a look as well.

its not a hack its a sony supported feature. google sony other os. The only thing you lose is the 10GB of hard drive space you allot it.

nope. linux is safe and permitted by sony. you can see the option in the xmb under system settings/other os. futher linux runs under a hypervisior and is not permitted to touch the ps3 firmware.

Xe plays many systems quite well and is an excellent emulator for ydl on the ps3. see my snes, genesis, tg16, nes video to see it in action. See the guide in the description to learn how to install it. I wouldnt use it for snes emulation. Snes9x GTK does a much better job.

I followed all your guides and links to great sites. thank you very much (posting from YDL now) I'm stuck here at the BT controlers. I can get the OS to see and recognize them but in Mame I can only get the left analog stick to work and not the buttons. Any ideas? I've run everything over exactly as you have it in the guide to no avail. I'd rather not connect the BT controls via usb if I dont have to. Thanks in advance!

For mame ideally you want to configure the controller each game since each game is technically its own cabinet. Load up mame then start a game. Once loaded hit tab on the keyboard and select input this game. Now press enter on the keyboard for each 1 player button and once highlighted press the button on your ps3 controller you would like to assign to it. Be sure to hold down the ps button to activate the controller before you start mame.

hold the power button for like 5 seconds and it will turn off, when it turns back on it will be set to the default settings so you will start up on the ps3 screen and not the linux.
