Yeah but none of the examples you cited are comparable to what Ludacris did.. Jay, Kanye and (sometimes) Em have all proved that you can be controversial and get buzz WITHOUT straight making a fool of yourself.. Kanye and Em both reached the top by doing the opposite, mixing their shock value with thoughtful and emotionally complex records like "Jesus Walks" and "Stan"..
Hip-hop is about many things, you can't single out one trend and say "that's what hip-hop is"..

Right but this assumes that getting attention is the be-all end-all, and that all attention has equal value. We've seen throughout this election that some attention can be beneficial but other kinds can do more harm than good.. This is bringing more attention to Obama too but it's not the kind that he wants..
And Jay-Z DID get a bunch of attention for simply endorsing Obama and saying "we're ready for change" in his live shows, without playing himself (or Barack) in the process..

Also, if this really was just Luda trying to get attention and that was it, I'd say hey more power to him.. but what makes this track dumb and contradictory is that if you take Luda by his own word, he's NOT just trying to get publicity.. he's identifying Obama as a friend and talking like he's trying to help him win, telling everyone to get out and vote.. that's what makes it look ridiculous when he mixes that "supuport" with a bunch of rhymes that potentially hurt Obama's campaign.
