There's plenty of wiggle room to write a way for Clay to survive. Im counting on Blackbeard interupting the fight between Magellan and Clay. Magellan pwned him earlier and Teach is just the sort of guy who's NOT going to let such a slight go without a serious askicking in return

Besides, Teach needs to get past him anyway as he took several level Six prisoners with him.
