There is likely no life elsewhere in our solar system but it could exist around others. I am thinking of within 100 light years from us, not millions of light years away or in other galaxies. Just because we do not yet have the technology to travel that far doesn't mean that someday we won't, or that other possible "civilizations" can't do so now. Otherwise, I agree with your point that we do have so much more to worry about here on earth.
