Congratulations !. Very well done job for being an N sale layout, and the snowy rocks above the tunnel portal are simply spectacular !. About the speed, is the right one; considering this is a 4 unit consist train (that means is a very, very heavy one on the prototype) with a very long string of cars and probably stepping up some grades too. Imagination is a very important issue in this hobby. So, use it folks !!. Many cheers from Chile.
brilliant!!!!!!! your scenery and operating speeds are great as far as I am concerned! so realistic! Im working on some trains for a future CP layout in N scale once I have more room.
Do you have any trains on this spread high ball !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have miles and miles of track and your trains crawl I know thats scale speeds but just a little faster would be nice .....All that motive power I would put it to good use .........I use to live next to the cp rail that ran through water town wisconsin to minisota and seen many CN very sweet
@trackspike64 A couple of people have made comments regarding this. When watching it again, you are right it seems a little slow moving. Usually when I fire up the layout on my own and have a couple of beers I get things moving faster.
Thanks very much. Being Canadian and growing up with CN It's nice to see many manufacturers making CN Engines. When I started this layout 8 years ago most CN had to be custom painted. Needless to say the layout wasn't originally built with CN in mind from a prototypical point of view. It was meant for my other two favorites BNSF and UP with all of the fallen flags that make up these to roads.
Fantastic work sir! Fellow CN RR modeler here! Been planning a small N gauge layout for a month now - however this layout is making me re-think my approach! Hats off!
Actually on any of the scenes shown in my videos do not have super elevated curves. I wish I had, but when I started the layout I never thought to do it. That being said, I have put in some hidden reverse loops and due to the tighter radius on the curves due to space, I did super elevate to improve performance.
There are many ways to do it. I just used thin strips of styrene under the outside of the curved piece of track. Kato also makes super elevated unitrack.
@humppyus I'm no where up with Canadian or USA locos, so I hope you don't mind some questions. At 3.37, is that loco refered to as an F7? Also did Canadians have the dummy units like USA? And am right in thinking they were called "covered wagons?" Thanks.
@muzzavideos The actual engines are SD40-2W's and an SD50F. The SD50F is the wide body unit built in the 80's for CN. Basically it looks like and F45 with CN's Draper Taper style wide cab actually the same cab that is on the SD40-2W's. You are correct these wide bodied units did get the nick name covered wagons. Canadian Pacific had SD40's that were also wide bodied and they were called Red Barns.

Very nice layout great scenery and also nice to see a train running at a scale speed:} Not racing around like a jet plane. You can be proud of such nice work.
I really like the work you've done. If/when you have time, could you tell me how you made the snow, and how you've made it look so real? I'm hoping to start on my GTW layout next year.
The snow itself is from woodland scenics. After having the area painted and ready, I sprayed woodland scenics cement on the area I wanted to cover with snow. Then using a large spoon and sprinkled the snow over the sprayed area. I then hit it with another coat of scenic cement. Although the scenic cement costs more than using the standard white glue and water that most model railraoders use, It is not yellowing which of course is important when making a snow scene.

As an HO CN modeler, your layout is making me wonder about the possibility of N scale. Great work

Do you tilt your tracks on curves? If yes, then how do I make them? Great layout, I wish there was a sixth star rating on YouTube.
