yz 85 can get up to 75 or 80 on a straight away

@lilman3326 No way a yz85 will do 75 or even 80 unless it is geared horribly wrong. Then the acceleration would be crap. Now a supermini yz85 (bored out to 105 or bored and stroked to 112) could possibly be that fast, but not a stock bike. We used a GPS and got our bike (stock) up to 66MPH on a mile straight and it was revved out in 6th gear with stock 14/47 gearing.

@lilman3326 It depends on your experience and comfort. I've seen a girl who was 4'6" riding a yz85 in the beginner class at North Forty. When she went down there was no way she could get the bike back up on her own, much less start it. Ethan is 13 and 5'6" and still rides his YZ85. When he first started riding his YZ85 he could barely get a toe down. Now he stands flat footed with his knees bent. Almost time to move to 125's.

@lilman3326 Yes, did you read my description? Holgan Molthan was a bad little dude on his JR Supermini. The Jr supermini class is based on a 65cc chassis (in this case a KX65), but they are allowed to be bored out to 85cc. Yes, this race was the regular supermini class and I really don't know what the actual displacement of his bike is but it didn't matter. He was faster than Ethan that day. At smaller tracks they will let allow you to race up if you are fast enough.

@13031886 Depends on the gearing and the bike, a stock yz85 is good for about 65mph, but a stock kx85 is only good for about 55mph. We have ours geared for better accelleration so we top out at about 60mph. But, we almost never see those kinda speeds on the track. Might see 50mph down certain straights, but it's all about cornering.

No, Ethan is 11. Turns 12 in July so he also races in the 7-11 class for the rest of 2010.
