Sorry for not answering in the spanisch language - i just can send my messages in English - but I
'm thankful for everey positive comment regarding Steve Ellis resp. Love Affair. One of my favourite songs and bands of the 60ies. Greetings from Germany !!!!!
This sadly could never happen, but it would have been Amazing if Steve Ellis and my other favorite Steve Marriot were on stage together...thay would have been pure magic!
This reminds me of those wonderful days when I was discovering, coffee bars, mini coopers, girls and simple pop music for it's own sake. Songs that you could remember how to sing to yourself forty years on!
re the posts on Don Arden(Sharon Osbourne;s dad), in her auto bio, even she said her dad was a sh*t and he took money off even her in the end...he made her a director when she was too young to know and she was landed with all his debt...
I may have a copy of One Road from one of the many live gigs we did that were recorded onto VHS. I do keep meening to copy them all over to add to the ones I have already uploaded But not to sure how good the quality is as they were done on hand held video recorders.. but will check them out soon ..Regards Mel
Production on the original studio version (1969) was top!!
Steve Ellis's Love Affair should've released more live albums/films from their extensive tours in the 1990s! "Edinburgh Live '95" (recorded at the Cavendish) is amazing, wish there were more live recordings out there.
Please post any other stuff you have i simply love you and the guys playing all those great great songs, when was the last time anybody has recorded songs like Rainbow Valley, Everlasting Love ect ect songs that mean something sung by singers who sound something keep your Robbies and Co give us good ole Steve Ellis anytime
No problem at all. As an aside I would love to see the Old Grey Whistle test show of Widow Maker, I can remember them doing 'One For The Road'Has anyone got a tape of it Steve was great on that.
In the late 70s he left the music scene and took a job working on the docks. In 1981 he had a horrific accident involving a fork lift truck blades which smashed his feet and was in and out of hospital for the next 8 years . In fact it took until 1988 until he could walk again.
Steve said in an interview that he was ripped off financially by band manager Don Arden ( father of Sharon Osbourne ). He said that whilst the band was out touring abroad for months on time Don Arden was supposed to pay Steve`s tax bills from his share of the band`s money.Don Arden kept the money for himself and Steve went bankrupt losing everything.
Of course not, I'd expected he'd have a better voice. Steve Marriot...Steve Winwood...Chris Farlow...Eric Burden etc all kids with great voices when they started got even better with age better not worse. That's all.
I just listening to Eric singing House of The Rising Sun 2007 live or at least I tried to . His voice was dreadful , I couldnt even call it singing , more gruff noises. Still each to his own taste. I also watched Steve Marriott live 1985 and he was also hoarsely shouting his classic songs .
I agree!,Is there a splinter Love Affair?. I went to see a band called The Love affair 20 years ago and they were crap. I'm sure Steve ellis wasn't in it.
Hi it plays fine for me I have it playing while I am writing this to you!! So it must be something with your PC or ISP ??? try clearing your cach, history & cookies Regards Mel
Thanks for the comment my Friend I have a load more Gigs that we did on VHS that I will transfer to DVD & put up here for you all to enjoy All The Best Mel amps-n-bits com
Steve Ellis has such a great voice and there are some great tracks in his catalogue - but there should have been so many more he had super talent and left the spotlight far too early. Thanks for this posting - there is a Rainbow Valley video from the 1960s on Youtube with what seems like the original line-up. YouTube is Great.
Thanks for the comment my Friend Steve has a Voice in a Million & a Great Guy Too!! I have a load more Gigs that we did on VHS that I will transfer to DVD & put up here for you all to enjoy All The Best Mel amps-n-bits com

Got to say, love the specs and the bass player looks like a young John Deacon.
If you ever get back together, do please let me know!

Its a pity they removed the original. It was much better than this. You can still hear remnants of the quaility of his original voice.

Well done. Pared back from the original but still Steve is in good enough form.

45rpmsingle: Thanks for the info. It's a shame he ended up on the docks. He couldn't have made much from his music career.

Don Arden was a bit of a gangster. I bet Steve doesn't receive any royalties for his records either. Shame, because they are never off the radio.
kevthedynamo 3 years ago 3
I don't think his voice sounds all that bad. I have added it to my Playlists.

Chipmonk. You have no soul. Today's stuff is rubbish. Not everyone is perfect like you.

PS; Steve Ellis used to have a great voice...where in the hell did that go?
jollywigs 4 years ago
Steve Ellis was aged 18 when he recorded the original of this song. He was only 17 when he recorded Everlasting Love .
Did you expect a guy in his forties to still have the voice of a 17 year old !!!!!!!
45rpmsingle 4 years ago
Of course not, I'd expected he'd have a better voice. Steve Marriot...Steve Winwood...Chris Farlow...Eric Burden etc all kids with great voices when they started got even better with age better not worse. That's all.
