Because it's divisive. Why do white Americans get to be just American and everyone else gets a prefix attached to their name, Asian American etc. it makes them feel less than or not quite American . I am Canadian, and people tell me I African American, when I am not American. I am with Whoopi Goldberg on this whole African American thing (she hates it too). Lot of blacks do. Next time they do this whole naming a race thing, they need to hold a referendum first.
