I had pleasure watching Peter Smit a couple of times live, and met him in person. I still had his autograph. He was the fun loving and lovable and nice to people. He loved to fight and was very tough and couraeous fighter, but never a jerk. Another reason I like him so much is he appreciated different MA styles and fighting mediums. Whether it be kyokushin, WKA, muay thai, or others, he never said which one was the best, or which one sucked the most. He was a class act.
The Hurricane was the first "white" fighter who knocked out a Thai world champion. Gunned down from close range by shots from the back in Rotterdam august 2006 at the age of 43. RIP
