@punk003452 sorry it can't charge 2 devices @ once not enough juice, the device you intend to charge probably woundn't recognise the charge it would be so low with 2 on board.
nice review and interesting gadget. just got 1 question sinse i got an archos too (archos 5) does it worth buying it for charching the archos or it isnt that good for that, thanks
unfortunatley it's not the best thing to charge the archos family, on holiday this year it hardly had enough grunt to sustain standby on my archos never mind charge. It's a weird thing the Archos batterys are very difficult to charge, i mean from the mains it takes my archos about 3 maybe 4 - 6 hours to charge. So to round up, DON'T buy it just to charge your Archos. Though i have come up with a recomendation, have a look and research into PowerMonkey cahrgers, they seem to be very good.
great review!, just one question though, i know it will charge itself, but can you plug a device in e.g a phone, and charge that from the solar panels(not from the battery straight from the solar panels), thanks
Unfortunatly not, you have to wait for the freeloader to chrage using the solar panels.(or by usb charge) Then using that charge to charge whatever it is you want to charge. hope that helps.
can you charge it via usb the big one that you would otherwise plug into a computer, NOT the small one called mini usb. If so then you would use the usb socket attachment, plug the usb cable into that, plug the usb cable into your g1. then attach to freeloader, though i couldn't guarantee that it would charge because i'm not up the the latest freelaoder compatability charts.
i got a simular solar charger but it comes with 10 adapters and a built in rechargable battery so if the sun dims it charges ur item from the backup battery. mine was bought for £10 off ebay and its small and nice, 1 hour charge for mobile phones.
I'll be completly truthfull and say i don't know, the only advice i can give you is that it charges my old ipod nano but !!not!! my new ipod touch. I'm sorry i can't help i feel pathetic. What i would say though is try and get to a shop where they sell both the freelaoder and the solio, (i'm guessing you need somesort of portable power as you won't be near a socket), go in and just ask what they think, after all a shop wants to sell and probally be willing to help you.
Ok the box says ''as little as 5 hours'' but from my experience it takes about three days. That's if you just left and didn't move it to follow the track of the sun. That was in the middle of july and it was sunny for as long as possible. So averagely about 3-5 days of mild to strong sunshine. Dramatically increased in winter.
if you need something that's cheap to top up your gadgets then this is it, but if your looking for reliability then shell out a bit more cash and buy the solio, from watching other peoples videos on the solio, it proves itself to be the better of the two. Also i have encountered what you are talking about, the sun charges the freeloaders internal battery which intern then charges the device connected, so the sun can't directly charge the devices battery the freeloader needs to charge first.
shame it took them 30 years from the one i got from tandy in 1978,now all i got todo is wait another 30 years for my laptop to do what i want for the money,or camcorder,GPS,home cinema, games machine & and all the other toys the 40 somthing generation were talking about in the 70s
Can you charge 2 mobile phones at the same time mate ?

This is what it said on product summury ''Samsung A288 and current D800 series phones''. This device will NOT charge laptops or netbooks.

@TheSmyth18 did you notice how small it is? anything that small would not be able to charge laptops
