i believe it just does that, , if im correct (correct me if im wrong, but some toyota tacks simply have a coil that twist when it heats up. so when you get up in the higher RPM's that needle get a bit sloppy, unresponsive.
nice vid man!to check my clutches i downshift through gears and see if there is any "jumping" in the revs. this usually indicates slipping clutch. other than that....who cares. still going .lol
My AE82 FX-GT does the same as this, not sure what the problem is either, and the clutch is pretty tired as well, unrelated- but my AE85's speedo lags above 110kmh as well... probably due to the overspeed bell

absolutely m8, worst case itd be bouncing limiter, otherwise youd hear the change then a good gap between the change and the revs matching wheel speed (output speed) either you have a shonky trace wire from the coil to tacho (blue top 87kw) or bad earth on the front left looking at the car next to water pump, alternator and engine mount from the timing cover (red top 100kw)

yeah its not the clutch the speedrevs keep on raising if the clutch was slipping it would be bouncing on the limiter and the speed would barely be going up it a faulty tacho
definately the clutch. my friends thrashed a 4age corolla gti hatch while the clutch was on the way out and you could get it to 30km/h in 5th geear and be bouncing the limiter...and when you changed gear the tacho would take atleast 5 seconds to start moving.
You know, I never even bothered to look at the tach after grabbing another gear... I'll try this out on my way home to see if I have the same thing going on with my 130k stock clutch.
wouldnt worry too much about it, the cars are old. my tach stops for a split second at about 4 grand and jumps quick when the tvis butterflies open up. dunno why just old cars i think

The only difference between the Canadian and Japanese dash cluster is that the Japanese one doesn't have both Kilometers Per Hour and Miles Per Hour. It just has Kilometers Per Hour. And the RPM and Speedo switch places.
oh yeah i know the difference between them, just never knew canadian ones said kmh and mph that's prettyt cool
do you have 4.778 gears in your car? looks like it when you shift because that's where mine stop at. if you do work in on the rear end it tends to mess up your speedo
You need new tachometer to rev it up to 11000 RPM, Takumi.

yeah its not the clutch the speedrevs keep on raising if the clutch was slipping it would be bouncing on the limiter and the speed would barely be going up it a faulty tacho
