  • Those who haven't picked potatoes might not understand the truism of this song it pretty much brings back the thoughts that went through my mind when I was picking, enjoyed this video.

  • What's the title?

  • The group is the Acadian Singers. The members of the group are Don Levesque, Charles Stewart, Roger Damboise, Joyce Crosby (Comeau), Claire Colgan (Dumais)

  • While I may not know who Don Levesque is, nor when this was recorded, I'm fairly confident my dearly departed mother Gilberte (Doucette) Dufour is one of the background singers. Such a treat to hear her sing to me this morning. This song would certainly have been sung at the END of potato picking season - we'd have been way too exhausted to be in such a jubilant mood to sing this song! (fyi, the tune is taken from "Les Fraises pis Les Framboises (du bon vin j'en ai bus)")

  • Les Chanteurs Acadien. Written and sung by Don Levesque, un p'tit gah d'Grand Isle, Maine.
