  • QUICK! THE SKY IS FALLING! GIVE MORE OF YOUR FREEDOM TO THE GOVERNMENT NOW! DON'T THINK, JUST DO WHAT WE SAY!

  • This video is 4 years old and the doomsday scenario they present still hasn't happened yet. "Give the government control over the internet before it's too late." I think not.

  • @adiostraitorobama Homogenization and deadening of thought? That's rich coming from you.

It comes down to cable companies like Time Warner and Cox Communications--despite massive growth and record-breaking profits from their Internet Service divisions--being scared shitless that internet services like Netflix Streaming and Hulu are going to eat their lunch in the content-provider arena.

  • @adiostraitorobama They want to make sure that, when the day comes that IPTV is a legitimate competitor to cable television, they'll be able to use their roles as internet gatekeepers to extort money out of Netflix or Hulu, or to force their own customers to use their IPTV service instead of being able to shop around. There's a word for those kinds of business practices: antitrust violations.

  • @adiostraitorobama It comes down to cable companies like Time Warner and Cox Communications--despite massive growth and record-breaking profits from their Internet Service divisions--being scared jiveless that internet services like Netflix Streaming and Hulu are going to eat their lunch in the content-provider arena.

  • @adiostraitorobama Nice trolling. You just found out about net neutrality now, or did you check the FOUR YEAR OLD posting date?

There's nothing Marxist about it, you stupid git.

  • You do not preserve net neutrality by enforcing "net neutrality". Just because you call it "Net Neutrality" doesn't mean that it is a good thing. What about the Patriot Act. It sounds nice,, but we now know that it was a Scam.

No,, keep it as it is today,,, without government interference as possible. If my ISP provider limits me, I choose another as fast as a lightning strike. BUT DO NOT TRUST THE GOVERNMENT

  • @bjarnet3 Because Obama's in power, right?

Did you even bother to check the posting date of this video? It's FOUR YEARS OLD.

  • @Sprocketman This is not against Obama at all.. I know Net Neutrality is an old idea.. They have even passed it in the European Union... ,, and by the way, The patriot act was enforced by Bush...

  • @bjarnet3 Maybe so, but you can't compare one with the other. Net Neutrality is not a takeover, it's a rule that says you can't restrict what we already have?

If the telecoms have their way, we're looking at cable TV part 2 with the internet, and after four years, I still don't want to see that happen.

You might not trust the government, but how can you trust big business to do the right thinng when it's not profitable?

  • @bjarnet3 "Keep it as it is today" THAT IS NET NEUTRALITY YOU DOLT

  • @vargulf19 NO,, because it says, promote Net Neutrality,,, by that it means create a law that (protect the people) so that all service providers are forced to follow that law...

And in the process you create a uncompetitive system... Where the service providers do not have freedom to compete,, because equality is put before freedom... The capital will flee,, I promise you... Countries that has NET NEUTRALITY will bypass others, in new technology, in prices, in quality..

  • @bjarnet3 I can promote Capitalism...Is that a new idea? I can promote Christianity...Is that a new idea? I can promote good hygiene...Is that a new idea? NO promote means to advance or contribute to the growth. How do you think it deters competition? By allowing small business the same chance to compete with large corporations IS competitive. Just think if there was no Net Neutrality 10 years ago, no Facebook, no Youtube, no google. Large corporations have small starts.

  • @vargulf19 I agree,,, If you freely promoting Net Neutrality that is a very good thing... But if you are promoting a creation of a new law that requires Net Neutrality... Then I think you prohibits competition and freedom (for producer and consumer)...

But I like the Idea that the Internet should be Neutral,,, but if you start to give power to the government,,, they will eventually abuse those powers. I promise you.. TRUST THE FREE MARKED (the free marked is YOU).

  • it said 2 out of 3 aint bad but all 3 were the same (no), wut up with that?

  • It is showing that the third option (Does your internet company tell you how much bandwidth is going to your favorite website) might actually happen - without net neutrality, internet providers may be able to decide how they allocate bandwidth to individual websites.

  • youtube-Don't regulate the Internet.

Rep. Ron Paul Lays the Smack Down on Internet Government Control. He tries in vain to convince his fellow congressmen that the government should not regulate the internet.

    Ron Paul for president '08

    GET THE WORD OUT !

look up all Ron Paul videos

  • right on man haha

  • I am curious why some of you feel it is approprate for you to choose which services you are willing to provide to those who pay you for those services. However when someone else wants to do the same that makes them evil.

  • The following U.S. House of Representatives members want to destroy the internet:

Howard Coble (North Carolina), Lamar S. Smith (Texas) Steve Chabot (Ohio), Spencer Bachus (Alabama), John N. Hostettler (Indiana), Ric Keller (Florida), J. Randy Forbes (Virginia), Steve King (Iowa), Tom Feeney (Florida), Trent Franks (Arizona), Darrell E. Issa (California), Mark Green (Wisconsin), Elton Gallegly (California)

For proof, search YouTube for this: net neutrality judiciary committee roll call vote

  • I thought in america we have the freedom of information ohh we do have freedom as long as someone can make a dollar to make it free

  • My comments to the Kennedy video have not been post because they wer'ent approved by the big head murdering drunk

  • open comments here! the internet is an open and uncensored system anyway, let's preserve that at every end!

  • Ted Kennedy is a jerk...

Internet neutrality=socialism and gov't control over property rights...

  • internet access has become a utility. regulation becomes necessary for the same reason it's necessary for power and water. There's no room for a privately-owned competitive alternative to the internet.

Other things to note are that the telecom companies have been dipping from tax money in order to build this infrastructure as a common carrier. Think about what that does to your property rights argument for a minute

  • The internet is already regulated.

It is not a utility it entertainment; more like television.

Our federal gov't is inept and cannot be trusted to regulate this, still evolving, medium called the 'net'.

Unless you can show me how an ISP has taken away my ability to choose which ISP and browser I use, your-federal gov't is the answer- cure will be a hard sell.

  • So you're saying the internet is already regulated, but then you seem to say it's not regulated? And for some reason you think the issue revolves in any way around browser choice? Do you have any idea at all what you're talking about?

Also, *you* as a child use the internet (or apparently, just the web) as entertainment. Do not presume that in your idle play-time that everyone else is also as shallow in their activities as you are.

  • You're also lost as to how connectivity functions. ISPs are only part of this. Backbone providers *cannot be gotten around*.

This is about telecom companies wanting to be paid a fourth time for the same connection. Once by the content provider, once by the consumer, once by taxes (yes really, they received tax money in order to build their infrastructure), and now once again if you don't want them to artificially degrade your service in favor of a competitor.

  • Backbone providers cannot monopolize the net.

I still have choices moron. YOU dont know what your talking about.

Pleas provide an example to justify creating more internet laws or shut up.

  • What I am saying is that we dont need more federal regulation for an already regulated entity.

As I said, our gov't is inept.

But like the typical leftist asshole you choose to insult and belittle me for challenging you.

  • No, I choose to belittle you because you deserve it. You've also got the reading comprehension and thought process of, at best, a sixteen-year-old. Someone told you it would be cool to think the way you do, and that's where you'll be stuck for a long long time.

  • LOL...

Oh,, and why do I deserve it smart ass?

Cause I chanllenged you and you couldn't put up?

You sure did a poor assed good job of selling net neutrality taliesein.

  • Teenagers deserve all the scorn in the world.

You're actually doing a pretty good job of "selling net nutrality" on your own, as you make those who are against it look like an incompetent group of children, partially illiterate and certainly uninformed. Do some reading, and you'll understand. You do have the attention span to read more than youtube comments, right?

  • With all due respect, please keep the flame wars to private messages. Also, please refrain from thrusting your scorn at teenagers. Thrust your scorn at trolls in public forums.

  • savetheinternet!!!!

  • Well that came out of nowhere... Honestly I'm not sure what you thought I was saying.

Obviously Net Neutrality won't keep the government from censoring content. So to answer your question, no. I do not think Net Neutrality prevents government censorship. I never have, and quite frankly you're arrogant for assuming so.

  • Net Neutrality will be preserving capitalism and the free market.

  • The fact is, you don't know shit just like 90% of the internet users. You think net neutrality pervents government censorship? No, Net neutrality doesn't apply to the government, it applies to telecoms, which means it does not pervent government from, say, pass a law that force all ISP to censor certain content.

  • Leekolas never mentioned censorship. You just made up an argument in your head, then responded as though it had actually happened.

  • You don't realize that the GOV'T is behind this ruse to give ultimate control to the big bucks friends. Screw the everyday users! How much of this type pf blogging do you think you will be able to do when the $$$$$ers get their hands on it??? Why do you support Robber Barons? Have you spent any time on History? Read about the big depression and the role of the ultra-rich of that time. I DARE YOU TO DO SO.

  • ha ha, you are sooo ignorant, who do you think gave AT&T and many Telcos the monopoly they have now? Government!

  • If you think ultra rich is the biggest threat then you are the dumbest a$$hole moron ever. History is oonly filled oppresive governments.

  • oh btw, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Yahoo ect. all support net neutrality law. So big rich $$$$ wins either way, how's that for irony?

  • Yes, a few large companies happen to support it along with countless small ones, the EFF, Wikipedia (they knowingly forgo billions a year they could easily make from ads, so ethics are pretty big there), along with several organizations created by private citizens for the sole purpose of supporting net neutrality...

As far as I know anti-net-neutrality is supported by... telcoms, and a few people that listen to conservative rhetoric....

  • The government is the ultimate coporate monopoly http://www.freedomtofascism.com/

  • ga36peach, use a different ISP if you don't like AOL. Idiots like you keep AOL in business.

  • Bravo!

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

  • i like dumb networks, but i also like the existence/development of faster, experimental networks.

  • What good will speed do you, if you can't afford to get on line? Do you realize that we have lost freedom of the press, airways, TV to the big $$$$$ group. What makes you think they will give you the time of day after they get their paws on the www.? NO TIME FOR PROTEST UNDER UNBRIDLED CAPITALISM.

  • network neutrality is a gimmick name; the net is already unequal... the legislation is pretty unclear on where they want to take it, plus the internet as-is can't be changed that much without becoming a completely different things.

  • The government is the ultimate coporate monopoly http://www.freedomtofascism.com/

  • The government is the ultimate big $$$$$$$$$ group, it's the ultimate greedy robber and baron. No private corporation even come close to it.

  • net neutrality = how the internet works now. It's a "dumb" network. That's mean we are smarter than it. If the telcos change it into a "smart" network, they (the ones who own the pipes) are then in control.

It's that simple. Dumb network = network neutrality = democratic media = good.

Trust me, you don't want your pipes thinking for you.

  • net neutrality = big government

If you like government regulated internet, support net neutrality.

  • If you like corporation regulated internet (scarier), don't support net neutrality.

    Your choice.

  • If YOU feel more comfortable being ruled by 'robber barons' and 'neo-fascists', then support the current bill proposed by the Republicants. If YOU feel they will play fair, WAKE up . Read your history, kiddo.

  • Apprently The Great Firewall Of China is the result of government controlled internet, kiddo.

  • I would think the 'firewall'of China is a RESULT of gov't. control, whereas the neutral internet we have today, is a result of LACK OF CONTROL by gov't. If not please explain how so. What do you think will come out of this takeover of the www? How did AOL. ATT earn the right to charge for and censorship of our information access??

  • net neutrality = hand over control of the internet to the government, simple as that.

  • Yes, yes, big business that stands to gain infinitely more profit and has much more incentive to do as they please is MUCH more trustworthy than a government that has no personal financial interest in the matter and regulations.

Last I checked, there was nothing preventing companies from not delivering to you things they don't like, the first ammendment keeps the government from doing the same.

  • Hmm, look at how America's Constitution and Bill of Rights are dissolving before ones eyes. Well, most have to open them first!

Globalist may even be planning to dissolve America into Canada (or is it the other way around?). Sounds satanic, I know... watch
