If you watch the Discovery Channel often you'll notice that during the program the symbol changes to advertise other shows on the channel. It's kind of funny, makes you pay attention.

@joeyboulregard Yeah, it was a collaboration between Discovery and BBC. Discovery/BBC did this a few years ago with the Planet Earth series too, but then it was Sigourney Weaver narrating the US/Discovery version. She's not half bad.

YES!!! Okay I found the music in the other trailer, so nevermind: it's "Requiem 1 by Giuseppe Verdi - Dies irae, Libera me" if anyone's interested. It's a powerful piece on it's own merit, but when combined with scenes of breathtaking wildlife, man I was riddled with goosebumps.

And I JUST got home from seeing the first episode in a MOVIE THEATER (special sneak pre-viewing) and it was awe inspiring! Can't wait for the rest. The wonders of the natural world are simply unspeakable. Enjoy...

Does anyone know where the other LIFE trailer is that has the EPIC SYMPHONY PIECE PLAYING???! Who is the composer and what is the name of the piece?? Any classical music buffs out there? I tried to Shazzam it but the iPhone was confused.....help please. It's the one that shows the black frigate bird chasing another, the killer whale rag dolling a dolphin, the desert lizard catching a black beetle, and a bunch of other sequences.

Oprah was absolutely infatuated with Planet Earth, and could, not in small part, be accredited with the series' immense success. Because of this, I assume they gave her the honor of narrating.

I'm sure she probably even helped fund this sequel to PE.

And on the bright side, having such a colossal icon like Oprah narrate such a show will pique interest in many people who might have not watched the show at all.

@HylianSpirit I doubt it she funded it. Planet Earth and Life were both filmed and made for the BBC here in the UK and the sold to Discovery Channel who got her to do the narration.

It was originally done by Sir David Attenborough.

K i need some help with this one... there was a documentary on the discovery channel about 3 or 4 years ago about life on earth from the very beginning up until now. It's not walking with dinosaurs, and it shows giant underwater scorpions that made their way onto land and shows how life progressed over hundreds of millions of year. I've been trying to search the name of it for quite some time now... if anyone has any ideas please let me know! Thanks
