Heart attacks were lower at the beginning of century because people lived shorter lives & because the economy was mainly agricultural, people laboured hence the activity increased HDL & cardio strength.People in France eat a lot of saturated fat,but heart disease is low because of----alcohol.Moderate alcohol boosts HDL by 10-12%, reduces inflamation & relaxes the arteries, prevents bood clots, decreases c-reactive protein,in moderation.Too many studies confirm this.
Guys Read The Science by Ray Peat!! We Gotta Eat Only Highly Saturated Fats like Butter, Coconut Oil, Dripping, Crean, Eggs.. Unsaturated Fats in a long term make us Insuline Resistance.. Saturated Fats Are Stable They Do Not Go Rancid And Do Not Create Inflammation!!!
could the monos and polys they advocate to eat as fat souces help cholesterol because these make cell membranes squishy and more reative to oxygen, so the body sucks up the cholesterol to stiffen up the cell membranes and protect itself from oxidation while sat go right to the cell membranes due to less oxidative and cell prefer it?
could the body increase fat burning with non sat fats because it wants to get rid of it rather than use for cell use?
Let's add avocado to the list, it's a wonderful food and it's raw, actually avocado is great as in smoothie or what for breakfast, it doesn't leave you hungry.
Coconut is a big part of my diet.
Yes, fat is good for you, even butter etc.
I'm from south west of France and people's diet there in rich in duck and duck's fat which we put in potato dishes etc, like roasted potato etc, that fat is really good for you, but of course, everything in moderation.
There is NO scientific evidence showing that eating cholesterol and saturated fat rich foods causes clogged arteries or heart disease!! I have offered $1000 reward to doctors or anyone that can show me scientific evidence that these foods will clog your arteries. We have been brainwashed by Ancel Keys since the 1950's and his government supporters of his cholesterol myth. It's about time people start to wake up!
Ohkay. I am in year 9 and even I know that eggs, butter, red meat and even salt are essential in a diet. Red meat and eggs give you protein, butter is dairy which can help your fat content and salt...is important for something. Can't remember. Anyway, that's ridiculous. I have recently tried...starving myself to lose weight but stopped when my friends pointed out it doesn't make me thinner. can you explain why? Logically it would make sense to just lose weight but you don't seem to. Please?
I lost 32lbs in 2 months over a year ago. I did it by avoiding sugar, transfat, bread and pasta. I eat mainly low processed and no processed foods. I used to add coconut oil to my coffee during the weightloss. I stopped only because it can get expensive and I forget to get it at the store. Good vid.
Are some people sensitive to coconuts? I have tried (started, stopped, re-started, with fasting, etc...) for months to consume extra virgin coconut oil and each time I notice that my pulse (esp. my thyroid area) rapildy races; raw broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, anything fermented, and tea/dark choc (which I LOVE...:-]) also does the same thing to me.
watsupdirk, if u eat ice cubes and nothing else for a long period of time (months) then yes you will loose weight. I don't think that your body will receive the proper nutrients to remain healthy if you do this for too long.
It's not a good idea and won't work as quickly as avoiding high sugar items. Avoid foods that say low fat and no fat. Avoid transfat and hydrogenated oil. I lost 32lbs in two months doing this and that was past my goal of 25lbs loss.
good work doc everything you mentioned is correct.the human body understans butter and other saturated fats.processed fats cotton oil, canola oil table spreads margarine etc cause havoc to our system
Good stuff. I'm into anti-aging and the benefits are so varied with coconut oil (particularly unprocessed, raw organic). It has a melting point of 76 degrees, so it melts in your mouth in seconds. Thanks for the video.
I'm rather intrigued by your recommendations on coconut milk as being healthy. I thought it's high in cholesterol. At least that's what modern Malaysians are saying. (I come from Malaysia by the way) So, my mum has substituted all coconut milk with fresh milk. Totally opposite to what you've said!
Great advice unfortunately I cant eat coconut oil due to an allergic reaction. Such as imediate vomiting and diarhea. Not to mention major gastric noises. Do you have any other weight loss methods?
I agree with the good doc. I have been using coconut oil (cco) for about maybe a month or two and I take in about 3-4 Tbl a day. it actually stimulates your thyroid ( I read somewhere on the net) so therefore it increases your metabolism and you loose wt and inches. I have gone from 235# to my wt this afternoon (so I might even weigh less cause I had already eaten and still had my cloths on and had atleast a couple of cups of coffee.) I weighed 229#.
Thank you for this post, so many people are too naive to believe anything that isn't mainstream. I'm glad to see that there are others that think outside the box :)
since you care alot about us , im a vegeterian and ive been since as long as i can remember , our cook always makes seperate meals for me and my family... i just took a blood test to see if i dont have enough iron or something, can u post a video for vegeterian :) thank you so much Dr. P
You have such great advice. I was wondering why you didnt have a few hundred comments but it was because you recently joined. I've always wondered if egg yolks really were an enemy to cholesterol.

I have trouble with my teeth and want to eat more saturated fats in the form of meat. Could butter, eggs coconut oil help? Any other suggestions.
Also, is there shredded coconut without sugar?

What about raw milk? doesn't the lactase enzyme which is still intact in raw milk help to break down the lactose that people are allergic too?
