  • Thank you so much for posting these videos! I have PTC too, and I had my surgery last week. When I got back from the hospital, I felt alone since I didn't know anyone around my age who had thyroid cancer. Watching your videos really helped me. I sing too, and I can't wait to be able to sing again. I'm glad that you are able to sing again after your surgery. I also decided to post my own videos about my experience, and I just posted my first video yesterday. Thanks again!

  • I discontinued taking calcium and Vitamin D...I only took them for a few months. I took a lot though, about 14 pills a day.

  • thats good to know... thnk u for replying.... anyways, right now i currently take 3 calcium carbonate tablets with vit d on it.. how boutu? have ur dose of calcium lessen already?? coz i used to take 9 after my surgery.. im hopingfor moe sharing here.. ;-) mwaaahhzz!!! i love urvoice bu the way...

  • Yeah, after my surgery I was taking quite a cocktail of medications. The vitamin D pills are mainly to help you absorb the calcium pills that I'm sure you took also.

Right after the surgery, the parathyroid glands which are attached to the thyroid are "shocked". They regulate calcium in your system so that's why the levels can get all funky for a few months. I discontinued the pills 'cause my parathyroids are working properly now.

Good to know you're doing okay! :]

  • hi i also have had my thyroid whole.. taken out just last year... and im soooooooooo happy to see that u are super okay. coz me im still not..i also sing.. and yeah life sucks withputa thyroid.. i just wanna ask u how do u feel before urperiod?? do u feel awful???

♥ one of your fans ^^

  • haha.

"Asians, Asians, we love our soy sauce"

    <3

  • this is unfortunate .. i totally feel bad for you

    get better !!!

i hope your singing is the same if not better =]

  • Just tell people you were in jail and got cut up by some haters.

Haha, hey has the surgery affected your voice?

  • it has unfortunately...my speaking voice is a lot deeper, contrary to my initially squeaky voice.

it took a while to start singing again too...it sucks.

  • ok , i didn't see this one ... sorry ... i'm gonna subscribe though .. i'd really like to know how things turn out .. in the mean time , i'll b praying for you .

  • you'll be fine :)

  • if cancer spread to the lymph nodes whole body scan is recommended to make sure that your lungs are clear from cancer spread.

  • yep, I had one of those.

It took like 3 hours in a really uncomfortable position. :/

One lymph node tumor got into my chest but my doctor was able to reach down and grab it to avoid breaking my sternum.

  • "avoid breaking my sternum"

    ouch

  • yeah i bet u do when did u have the surgery and how long have u been clear for? also did u have to have radiation or not?

  • I had the surgery last month, and my radiation treatment starts next Friday.

  • hey wow i didn't realise how much u could not eat i have just been diagnosed with thyroid cancer so its good to have info from survivors

  • ayyyyye, such a bummer.

It's not so bad, but the diet sucks butt. Like seriously, if this cancer doesn't kill me, I swear malnutrition will. :P

I've been eating rabbit food for the past 3 weeks!

:[ I want so badly to jump into a tub of salty, cheesy food and then indulge in creamy sweets. :]]]]

  • Glad you aren't feelin too bad. miss you. ; )

  • wow, i feel so bad for you, but you seem to be staying pretty positive. that's really good. i miss your music! i hope you feel better and everything works out. good luck, and GET BETTER!!

  • GET BETTER SOON!!

  • I'm impressed by how well you seem to handle this, you're genuinly a happy and strong person. Get better :]

  • i don't know much about cancer but....once you remove the thyroid cancer cyst, will it ever come back?

  • well I had 4 tumors; the cancer spread to some lymph nodes in my neck. The reason I'm getting radiation is to prevent that from happening; it's imperative that my doctors kill all the thyroid tissue in my system.

  • Ahh I see, sounds like an episode of House. Good luck on your radiation treatment. Best wishes & keep singing.

    - Jamie

  • get well soon

    get well soon] take care!

  • good to see you are smiling, I wish I could take you for a lunch when you'll be fully recovered :P

    all the best,

    david

  • kawawa ka :/
