As for the second coming, a generation, as spoken here in the Bible, is not a literal generation, but refers to the generation of the church, an indefinite amount of time. Not 40 years. And as for those who would not taste death until they saw the Son of man come in glory, that would be John the Apostle, who was taken to the end in the spirit, to give witness, and to write the Revelation. So, yeah, its all good. And true.
@ukulelemike "a generation, as spoken here in the Bible, is not a literal generation, but refers to the generation of the church, an indefinite amount of time."
So, your lack of understanding and your desire to judge the Bible and the Creator, discounts the Bible? Wow. You must pretty much know everything, because you are using your extremely limited reasoning to judge that which is infinite. That you don't like how God does things, doesn't make it false. How arrogant. Adam and Eve knew good from evil good was obeying God, evil was disobeying Him. To eat from the tree was forbidden because they decided to experience evil, bringing the fall.
I don't have a desire to judge the Creator; I have the desire to judge a character in a book.
I completely agree with you, however, that this character's existence does not depend on whether or not I like its actions. I don't think I've ever claimed otherwise.
I've debated the 2nd coming issue with many Xians who just flatly refuse to accept what the verses say, what jesus supposedly said, which was that his 2nd coming would happen within their generation, within their lifetime. JC clearly predicted his 2nd coming, & that it was for the Jews that he came.
They were all terribly oppressed and JC of course, knew this, and gave them hope by telling them that "he'd come quickly"...he was "at the door."
Furthermore, if the Biblical God is all knowing, then he knew Adam and Eve would betray him because of Satan before he even created them in the same world with Satan. So the Biblical God threw a monkey wrench into his own plan. Either he doesn't exist or he's an idiot.
Thanks. It's good to know that someone who knows the bible or the new testament is able to challenge those that quote it as fact. I particularly like the question, who did Cain have sex with, his mother or his sister?
I think you might definitely enjoy the video "The God Who Wasn't There," in which a former Christian asks, did Jesus exist? It's a well-researched piece, and presented much like your video.
Do you mean with each other? Both Matthew and Luke used Mark as source material, so it's to be expected that they align with each other on topics that originated in Mark.
But this isn't a topic that originated in Mark. They used Mark for material because Mark was a companion of Peter, one of Jesus's inner three. Peter was closer to Jesus, therefore things they didn't know about were in Mark. Whereas this is a record of Jesus addressing the disciples, which includes Matthew. And I meant that it doesn't knock down their validity as historical documents.
I've been saying this for years... How the hell can you expect someone who doesn't know what Good and Evil is to follow any instruction, especially when you get someone telling them the opposite, even though I'd say that they would have taken the fruit even if Satan hadn't convinced them of it. Try giving someone without this supposed knowledge orders, and see how well they carry them out... It makes no sense to me...

I'm not much for debating, but I really didn't like this video. Faith is faith is faith...so if your purpose is to take this away from Christians, then I feel that that's very wrong.
I got that he was explaining why he didn't believe in the bible. I don't see him trying to take anyone's faith away.
But let's be honest; that's not at all what you didn't like. What you didn't like is that he made damn good arguments against the bible. If Christians lose faith over a youtube video, then what does that say about faith anyway?
My intention isn't to take away people's "faith", but rather to make people think harder and more critically about what they do believe.
Everywhere else, questioning and thought-out criticism is a good thing, yet somehow when it comes to religion these things are tossed out the window.
The way I see it, I'm pointing out apparent flaws and contradictions within a body of work. There is no reason that should ever be considered a bad thing.
Faith is faith? That's fine. So you mean to say that faith doesn't affect anything in society? Faith doesn't make people act in certain ways that others may find objectionable?
If it does, is it not appropriate for others to question it?
Not to forget that this video is a response to another video, with the title: "Atheist, show me where the bible where it's flawed"
That's right, another Christian asked for this video response.
THEY CHOSE 73BOOKS OUT OF THOUSANDS. TO MAKE UP BIBLE, BIBLE IS EVN A MADE UP NAME. THEY ALSO VOTED JESUS AS GOD IN 325AD IN NICEA

you're taking the verses out of context... try to read the whole chapter and you'll understand.

Pretty interesting. However, the last argument doesn't really stand up when compared to how many validity points the Gospels have.

No, it simply shows that either one account or the other cannot be correct.

@tedkiwi21 another problem with the first chapter in bereshis
EVE and co were 'created' in day 6 immortal and given a garden on earth to live in
with no children planned according to the stated myth
now
heaven is supposedly 'created' in day 2
and heaven by popular myth is an afterlife destination
but if the first 2 humans were immortal and living on earth
before the 'fall'
before which there was supposedly no death
for what purpose is heaven made?
