She followed up her 1st rock album on Epic in 1977 with this . From rock to schlock. It took 6 years for her to release another album. Thank goodness for that. Where is she now and why no new album in 21 years. Labelle was last year. She needs to release a new album before she's 70.
Awesome to find this here! Does anyone have any MP3s of Nona's to share, or know of a fansite that posts them for download? It's criminal that her catalog has yet to see the light of day on disc!!! How great would it be to have a gem like "X-Ray" on CD?!?! I have everything she put out on vinyl but have failed miserably at updating my vinyl library digitally. Anyway, thanks again for posting this!
It's funny, I've heard nothing but bad about Nona's Arista period, but I kind of like this! It's very pop, though, more than one would expect from her.
I love Nona, but I think if you heard "I Love It" or "Snakes Alive" you'd know why people hated the Arista period. Nona once told me "Not my finest moment..."
This song was one of several singles Nona did for Arista in the late 70's--they were all dreadful and thank God none of them hit. The other two songs were "Love it" and "Snakes Alive."
Can't be more dreadful than this outfit! LOL Nona is my girl, and she's built like she is 25, but here she looks like she is stuffed. The song is interesting.
yeah--I guess Nona was still searching for a look that fit. The late 70's were a weird time--disco was over, punk was stagnant, new wave hadn't really started yet, and the arena rock bands were in the decline. I think in 1983 was when Nona finally got her feet on the ground, looking back on it
Great obsevation, Dave. Musically and visually this does seem like a mid-80s video. Not a good song but proof that Nona has always been ahead of her time.
Wow - this is rarer than an honest Republican! Thanks for sharing! Now if somewhere I can snag her killer version of "Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart".......
Love Nona.............but this song is not really well-suited for her.

That's Mark Ellen, editor of more music magazines than you can shake a stick at making his TV debut. Biggest array of baritone saxes I've ever seen!

Really? He looks like the bass player out of Ugly rumour to me!

This is from 1979? this could pass for 1989, both the song and video. She even predicted MC Hammer's big pants.
