after stewart's wreck in part 2 when childress said dale told him "if they dont change these cars there gonna kill somebody" that made me feel like i did that day.
I can actually remember thinking about how the sport was going to make it following the cataclysmic aura it stamped on everyone's heart, especially mine.
i never was, and never will be a fan of him or his son. but that aside, it is almost unbearable to see a racer die... it still brings tears to my eyes...
I've never really followed NASCAR to any great degree, but this man deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as men like Senna, Fangio, Wheldon, and the other greats of motor racing. And yes - I had tears in my eyes at the end.
It is shocking to see the faces of those that were there when he died. It was a day that will never be forgotten. It has also had a tremendous negative effect for Nascar. I think for me I realized that I was a Dale Earnhardt fan, more than a Nascar fan. I dont watch that often anymore. I lost something and someone that I truely enjoyed.
It never occured to me how painful it was for Mikey, Junior, and Ken Schrader to recount the moment they lost their friend, father, and competitor. Mikey felt that way in the 2011 Daytona 250 trucks race, with a half-broken spolier of all minute things. I think Michael's half-broken spoiler reminded him of how his heart broke in half when Dale Earnhardt died.
we lost a great champion that day.but if you look at that race you knew something was going to happen, it was just a odd day all theway around/ but you have to agree DALE EARNHARDT dide what he wanted to do rip dale
Being the only NASCAR fan in my family I had to go to church right after hearing about this... I couldn't sit there, I went outside and cried (Don't judge me) but before I did I put Dales name on the list of those who had passed away and they said his name last... Saving the best for last of course.
I was stationed overseas & stayed up late to watch the race flag to flag. It was a long race with the red flag so when it was over & I waited to see Mikey climb from the car & then they showed the ambulance taking Dale to the hospital. Thought nothing of it & turned off the TV. My buddy woke me up later in the day to tell me... I'm from South Carolina, he was my hero, damn near like losing a family member...
Nobody will forget that day even in 100 years. I remember my dad didn't like dale and laughed when he wrecked but he said he could have died when he turned on espn later that night. Nascar will never be the same i don't care if jimmie johnson wins 10 titles in a row he will never compare nor will anybody else
@MrBurney12 Similar reactions in my house too. My mom couldn't stand Sr. I remember we were all aggravated at Dale in those last few laps for the blocking that he was doing. When he crashed (in a manner that we had seen so many cars do before, "no big deal") my mom said goody on her way out the door. I remember seeing Ken wave the rescue crew over and I audibly said "He's hurt..." Later the news broke on TV and I called my dad into the living room. We were in a state of disbelief...
Poor Ken schrader the pain in his eyes is almost too much to bear. Wat ever he saw that day well haunt him the rest if his life God bless him and the earnhardts
i was 6 at the time and dale was my favourite and he still is to this day, i remember seeing the crash then asking my dad ''why isnt he out of his car yet?'' , i may have only been 6 but i cryed my self to sleep that night, he was my idol, my hero, rip dale
I WILL NEVER EVER EVER FORGET THIS DAY AS LONG AS I LIVE AND THE HURT AND THE PAIN THAT DALE JR MUST OF FELT THAT DAY THAT IS THE DAY DALE JR SNUGGLED HIS WAY INTO MY HEART AND THATS WHERE HE IS TO THIS DAY AND THATS WHERE HE WILL REMAIN
Poor Ken Schrader......his reactions just break my heart
Such a class act for never telling exactly what he saw when he walked up to the car.

Thank you for uploading this. The race ran long and my DVR recorded only 15 minutes of it.
