@NintendoSinceBirth1 Yes it is. We "snuck" into a music building on the campus on UNC-Chapel Hill. Dex put out a full piano album a few years ago. This was just some improv stuff he did.

No he plays a really old and cheap Silvertone guitar so its hard to keep in tune. I think its worth it for the kick ass tone he gets.

Funny story - I saw this guy at the DMV in Chapel Hill yesterday. He was trying to transfer a title into his name but the DMV guy was confused trying to reconcile his driver's license with the name on the title. "Who is Dexter?" "Well, you see, Dexter is me, I am Dexter - I'm a performer and Dexter is my stage name." I thought he was full of BS... but apparently not! He left frustrated and without having the title transfered.

Used to see the DuoJets back in the 80's and still see Dex when I can. In fact, saw him and Sara last night in Nashville and they were incendiary. The guy is a true independent spirit, and a pioneer. And yes, Jack White was at the gig, watching admiringly.

Dex is the greatest performer I have ever seen, and that includes a *lot* of folks over the past 25+ years. Here's hoping he gets the recognition he's due. Really glad to see Sara on the drums, too. Our beloved Crow from the Flat Duo Jets era is, by the way, alive & well and also has a solo album out.

She saw the Flat Duo Jets open up for the Cramps and thats pretty much where it started. She said in this interview that she had a crush on him and loved the Silvertone guitar he played (and stills plays - he's only ever used the one). Her friend happened to be selling one so she bought it just to have in her room cause she thought it looked cool. Eventually she started playing it. If you find any old pictures of Chan from the '90s you'll see her using that guitar.

yeah, i knew she had a silvertone back in the day. at the show when one of the roadies brought a silvertone onstage i thought she was coming on to do some solo stuff first. i was surprised when dex walked out and starting noodling with it.
