cydia is new version of installer, yao can have bot of them but you have to istall it. If you wont to istall it just tipe in youtube "how to jailbroke iPod tuch/ iphone 3g and there you have a very good video from alexosh1234 how to do it.

what is cydia, i know its like installer but like can you have both cydia and installer at the same time and whats really the difference?

There is not really a difference, but they do both offer different things and you can have them at the same time. You get these applications by searching Jailbreak tutorials on Youtube depending on which firmware you have. Give me a message if you have any more trouble.

i ended up finding this out on my own

i upgraded my 1g touch to firmware 2.2 for free and then jailbroke it using quickpwn, which installed both cydia and installer.

i just sold the ipod yesterday to my friend for $150 due to lack of speaker and memory(8gb isnt enough for me)

im planning on buying the 16gb 2g touch, if you hear anything about the 2g 2.2 jailbreak then please contact me
