  • Most receivers utilise the NMEA 0183 protocol definition

  • what servo did you use? i want to do a DIY antenna pointer..

  • What was the cost of this setup? Could I get a similar one?

  • so the GPS info gets sent through the aerial then fed into a computer which then pan and tilts the aerial, thats cool, how does it go up and down though with GPS? GPS only gives lat and long

  • GPS gives you alot more then just LAT LONG, even with the most basic receiver

  • Like what? i cant think of anything else that would be needed, heading would only work if you are constantly moving

  • Most receivers utilise the NMEA 0183 protocol definition. These are a number of sentences that provide different information to the host, the GPGAA sentences contains 3D position information, LAT LONG ALT(above a datum, usually WGS84) along with a whole lot more. They also usually have a binary manufacture specific protocol for higher speed, lower through put applications. So with this application all you need is the aircraft pos and the ground station pos to calculate the azitmuth and elevation

  • Is this rssi guided?

  • No, it is steered using the gps telemetry from the aircraft.
