The plane is made of aluminum, and I'm guessing there were sparks, just not that many. Though on a bright & sunny day they'd be harder to see.

What do you think the expert on the phone would have said if a woman stepped off the plane, and she was the pilot? I've noticed that pilots nearly always assume other pilots are male. (For the record, I'm male, and I'm a pilot.)

i had a gear up landing just like this in Fort Lauderdale in a Piper Arrow. A couple of scratches on the cabin stringers on the bottom and a borrowed prop and the plane flew to FXE for engine checks and paint.

Nah, landing on grass would allow the props to dig into the grass... possibly ground looping the aircraft. Concrete is always the way to go
