I don't understand why people enjoy listening to this guy. JDF just has such an ease in his voice that is so relaxing to listen to. Gedda's different voices aren't as well connected. I also don't like the "covered" sound coming from his C's. After listening to Brownlee, Florez, Osborn, Kraus, Gedda, and Mateuzzi, I still think Florez beats all with his impeccable technique, acting, and tonal purity.

@frafantuzzi ....Florez resta un grandissimo interprete del repertorio brillante di Rossini. Purtroppo oggi si tende a fare di tutta l'erba un fascio. Guglielmo Tell, non è il Turco in Italia....è completamente un'altra vocalità! sarebbe come paragonare il Tebaldo dei Capuleti belliniani al Pollione della Norma o il Fenton del Falstaff con l'Otello di Verdi...."Stesso autore" troppo spesso si confonde con "stesso repertorio". Meglio che Florez non si accosti a questo repertorio.Gedda Magnifico!!

@frafantuzzi negli anni 50-60 zanzare come Florez non entravano neanche in un coro.

Dal vivo Gedda aveva poca voce,a Garnier la sua voce era brutta e piccola.

Accanto a Florez naturalmente Gedda dal vivo era un bravo tenore...

ma accanto ai grandi tenori del passato glorioso italiano Gedda era un tenore come tanti,niente di più.

Con l'arrivo dello Stereo e grazie al Microfono negli ultimi 40 anni siamo testimoni a un fenomeno: le voci 'microfonate'.Pavarotti,Gedda,­Carreras,Domingo...

Non conosco il significato del termine "estupidez" ma, nel caso in cui significhi "stupido", sono dispiaciuto che Fabrizzzio48 non abbia risposto al mio commento negli stessi termini di civilta' che ho utilizzato io: ho infatti espresso un parere netto senza pero' dare dello "stupido" a nessuno: a questo punto, pero', non posso che restituire al mittente tale appellativo. Peccato: un'occasione persa per un civile confronto. Ovviamente, non rispondero' piu' a commenti di simile natura.

Notevolmente inferiore a Pavarotti (Decca 1979), Merritt (PHILIPS 1988) FLOREZ (Aria for Rubini 2007) e Kraus (filmato Anni Sessanta. Ma inferiore anche a Fisichella, Sempere e Bonisolli (filmati vari). Come si puo' ritenere questa una grande esecuzione ? Emissione dura e legnosa con acuti pericolanti e poveri di squillo: l'ultimo al limite del grido. Convincente solo nella ripetizione cantata "piano" della strofa "asile hereditaire". Grazie

Juzgar una interpretacion particular resulta injusto. Ni Pavarotti, ni Merritt, ni Florez, ni Kraus, ni Bonisolli le tocan las botas en gracia, estilo, y capacidad a Gedda.

Gedda es un artista mas inteligente y disciplinado, que todos esos juntos. Con una tecnica elegante y balanceada.

Ya quisiera Pavarotti su constancia, Kraus, su bello tono, Bonisolli, su cordura, Merritt, su masculinidad, y Florez, su poder.

In my Opinion Gedda was the Greatest Lyric Tenor of all time surpassing Kraus and Pavarotti his clarity and ease of those extraordinary High note were just incredible. Bravo Nicolai

well pavarotti is over played obviously. In his early days, he was clear and perfect. Not to dwell on that, but there is a recording on youtube I came across if you search pavarotti, o muto asil, this same aria above but in Italian of course. The display of the high C's and his vocal stamina are second to none in that recording. Many of his other recordings and videos, just watching him sing without moving is bordering on comical I am so jealous of his ease, but he never worked for it.
