Fact: expert zoo keeper and t.v. personality Steve Irwin, was fataly stabbed by a sting ray not too long ago. he was an expert. but he still made the mistake of swimming too close behind the sting ray. so being an expert does not mean you are ALWAYS right.
i think you could have avoided disturbing the birds if you had screened yourselves and the nest from the birds. e.g. by draping a curtain over the nest site. maybe that was not possible.... i cannot say because i was not there.

Guys, you should check out the videos of Mariah attacking the banding workers on the Kodak tower. Mariah ruled the skies of Rochester from the Kodak Tower from 1998 until 2008 when she was ousted in a territory battle by a much younger female and her partner (who happens to be Mariah's grandson).
How do we know this, sgtSNIPESHOWsgt? Their young were banded so we knew who they were and where they came from. Archer (current male resident of Rochester) is the son of Mariah's 2002 male juvie
@sgtSNIPESHOWsgt I highly doubt falcons are physically capable of "kicking", nor are they willing enough to attempt to attack a human where the habitat in which they live in is predominately human.

@CyanideButterfly Your level of ignorance is truely amazing. We have been working this and many other nest sites for over 20 years, No parents have EVER abandoned a nest after the banding. Again, these are professional biologists and you are not. Get some facts before you comment.
They actually have been doing this for years because they are an endangered species and we need to study their migratory behaviors since they've been reinvented as an urban dweller. (Some are still cliffside dwellers.)
