Should not we as parents be the role models for our children? Should not we be the ones to be teaching them the values we want to see in these public figures? Being a role model doesn't mean you are raising anyone's kids. Its all about being a good example. WE ALL have an responsibility of being a good example to the youth regardless of whether we have kids or not. And for the record, ROLE MODELS ARE CHOSEN. I agreed with Barkley when I first saw this commercial 17 years ago, and I still agree with him now. The role models children should have are the ones that play an active role in their life. Watching grown men or women play sports or act in movies/TV, or sing doesn't constitute as "an active role". It's the parents and other family members, it's the teachers in school, and for some children: their friend's parents.
