  • uh yes it does mean you should raise my kids.

  • Back when I was little, I always wanted to play ball like Jordan. Thanks to those Jordan commercials I thought you had to have Jordans to play like him. lol The point is I wanted some Jay's to play like Mike not be Mike. I to busy trying to be cool like my dad. lol

  • @turbothelegend *was* to busy

  • amazing he took so much heat for this commercial

  • @Ohio76Hoosier I know. I've always said this. The only way you should admire an athlete is because of their play. Not the type of person they are.

  • Amen to you Charles. Parents Raise your kids stop looking to athletes to do it. America loves to use Scapegoats. Now stop being an ass Charles and let 2K put on the game damn it

  • Soo this is were LeBron got the ideal from.

  • I do not spit on little girls.

  • This was a raw ass commercial

  • Players will never make commercials like this. To many jordan shoes to release

  • How could you not be a charles barkley fan haha

  • "I am not a golfer."

  • You TELL 'em, Charles. The most spot-on basketball commercial EVER.

  • I'm doing a argumentative essay on whether pro athletes should be role models or not. I'm on Charles side I'm using this commercial as a point.

  • Surprised he didn't get spit on instead

  • not a charles barkley fan, but this commercial is spot on.

  • This man is smart as fuck. Why do a lot of parents try to put things off on other people? You can't just pick a role model because they're good at a sport. Look at Deion Sanders, one of the best corners in the history of the NFL but he was an asshole. If you're old enough to understand the players personality then I could see it but not parents trying to put that off on athletes.

  • This commercial pretty much gives the middle finger to American society. Chuck is right, professional athletes should not and are not role models.

  • But he called for LeBron to stay in Cleveland. I guess to be a good role model on big time athletes staying in hometowns. The hyprocrite as always.

  • I always loved this commercial!

  • GINOBILI!!!!!!

  • lol but on he on sum real shit. yall betta raise ya got damn kids

  • bass-kah-ball court? chuck wreaks havoc on the english language and the image of professional athletes as good sportsman

  • i remember this back in like 1993?

  • Should not we as parents be the role models for our children? Should not we be the ones to be teaching them the values we want to see in these public figures? Should not we be the ones to shoulder the major responsibility of our children's moral welfare? It is not enough to play the blame game anymore. . When we fail to train them right, no school, church, or pop star is going to fill that role, because their role is different.

  • @usiega : Well said, nuff said.

  • who does barkely think he is mj jk

  • @kenupe1911 Have fun living in 2011

  • @kenupe1911 No I'll stay.

  • @kenupe1911 Marriage equality is not an important issue to you huh? Would you like to go back to the time when blacks and whites could not marry?? It's just as important for all other types of people to be able to marry whomever they want. Calling someone a "fag" is just as bad as calling them a "nigger". And if you don't think either of those is bad, then you are lost.

  • @kenupe1911 Yes, you have been defeated so tuck your tail between your legs and go back to your TV-less house. But don't send your kids to school because *gasp* they might watch a clip of Charles Barkley the Demon, in the school library. Then, despite your "great parenting" they will start spitting and fighting and become dropouts. All is lost b/c of Sir Charles!

  • @kenupe1911 You're a fucking moron dude. Marriage equality is just something that some athletes openly support; this shows they are role models beyond the court. Pick anything worth standing up for--good parenting in your case--and put an athlete behind it...get it? The word "children" spans many years obviously so you don't show Barkley to the youngest ones, but to middle school kids and older. Tell me since you think I don't have a clue and you're the expert, how do you handle it??

  • @kenupe1911 How are you going to be 100% sure a child doesn't find a bad role model in sports anyway? What if they look up David Robinson or some other good role model and Barkley is in that game too. The child could then go look up Barkley without anyone knowing anyway. The key is good parenting, having someone to be able to explain right from wrong.

  • @kenupe1911 Steve Nash is a perfect example of a role model. He plays with passion and sportsmanship on the court. Off the court, he is supporting a civil right, the right to marry whomever one chooses. Don't throw the word "naive" at me when you don't know me. I have actually worked with kids for many years. If a child has a solid upbringing with good parents, then I think it would be fine to show him/her clips of Barkley. If they happen to see Barkley spitting, that is a teachable moment

  • @kenupe1911 Model role models? For starters: Steve Nash. Not only a role model on the court but an open supporter of marriage equality. To answer your question about emulating skills: You only show the child clips of Barkley being a "good boy", or you just don't tell him/her about Barkley until their older.

  • @kenupe1911 You can also tell a child to copy Barkley's skills but not his attitude.

  • @kenupe1911 I was responding to someone who criticized Barkley for not being an activist. To a child that wants to be a pro athlete you tell them there are some players to admire and imitate and some that you look at and learn from their mistakes. A person in any profession has a right to say he/she is not a role model. At least Barkley made it easy by being honest about it. There are plenty of other better-behaved athletes to emulate.

  • @kenupe1911 Please. The people that "paved the way" for Charles Barkley or any other big athlete are people that see the talent and the dollar signs. You think athletes are recruited for the potential activists they could become? They're know for their talent first and their activism a distant second. Very few care about a bench warmer activist.

  • @kenupe1911 *yawn*

  • Chuck, you're still my role model. Not because you dunk a basketball but because you call out all the knuckleheads

  • Barkley is so right on this. Athletes should not be role models. I know this better than most, I made the mistake idolizing Brett Favre my entire life up until he spit in every Packer fan's face 2 years ago. Look at him now, do you think he sets a good example for children? No way, unless you want your kid to be a womanizing, waffling, self-centered and egotistical drug addict.

  • You know it's an interesting message when people are still arguing about it 20 years later...

Don't let TV educate your kids, just do it.

  • Hi Chuck ;)

  • @kenupe1911 Yeah but not all athletes have to be philanthropists though even though those are the ones that you prefer.

Just because Charles wasn't an activist for anything doesn't make him a bad person. He said what he felt in a time where this entire country was politically correct, prim & proper, and just too damn serious

  • "I am paid to wreak havoc on a basketball court" lol sick line.

  • apparently hes lebrons role model

  • true, but unfortunately he is a role model. just part of the job whether he likes it or not.

  • @brianduncan77 No its not, for a person to be a role model. You have know that person emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Parents and Teachers are suppose to be Role Models since you can get to know them. You only know Charles on TV. You never met him, know what he's like, or met his family and friends.

So what he is trying to say is that TV shouldn't be raising your children. That is all.

  • @brianduncan77 true he is, but people should not have an expectation for him to act in a way that is not Charles Barkley. You can only be yourself, and when you try to act like someone you are not you get into trouble.

  • @brianduncan77 No he isnt a role model...why are some people so stuck on athletes be a role model for their kids??? like wtf...I wouldnt want my son or daughter to look up to a athlete or entertainer...i'm going to teach them life lessons thats my job. I dont agree at all...Keep thinking that, and you will be let down.

  • @brianduncan77 it's not apart of the job to be a role model.

  • heh "that was turrrrible"

  • check my charles barkley shoe video

  • @kenupe1911 So in other words your talking about an athelete who's also a philanthropist right?

  • @kenupe1911 This is NOT about shit like white ideology or any bullshit like that.

As far as I'm concerned you just can't handle Charles ecelectic and bold way of reporting. Yes he doesn't have any social responsibilty off the court aside from being a mere sports reporter but that has NOTHING to do with white ideology, cultural assimilation, or any BULLSHIT like that

  • @kenupe1911 Define "substance off the court" my friend.

  • @kenupe1911 It's ironic. You try to look smart but wen I actually read your comments and break them down you are actually quite fucking dumb.

White Ideology isn't as corrupt and biased as it was in say the...1960's perhaps. Now I admit that Charles is not the normal sports reporter but that's his THING. This isn't about stereotypes, minorities, or some other bullshit this is about defending/attacking Charles Barkley.

  • @kenupe1911 ure just making assamptions without knowing the guy. if that is true (which i doubt it is) he's still making money. U dnt knw him personally so u can't make any judgements about his personality.

  • @kenupe1911 Charles is an NBA institution by himself but this whole "white ideology" stuff is just plain bullshit. Now I admit that his antics as a broadcaster have been childish (low-profile bashing of NBA athletes and whatnot) but you make it seem as if he's some politician!

  • @kenupe1911 Then tell me o' wise one. How is Charles lacking any substance in his words in either back then or now?

  • @kenupe1911 Any person can become a role model but there are ones that are better than others.

At the time that this commercial was released to the public eye CB was at his peak in the NBA and one of the most vocal and recognisable people in the world and he said a lot of shit that people didn't like

While he may be a role model I can name many other people who were much better role models than Charles effing Barkley

  • @kenupe1911 And that makes him a sell-out how?

Charles is voicing his opinion on other athletes, that "childishe and immature behavior" is called speaking out.

You probably like the typical PC sports broadcasters who just report stuff and never give their own opinion. That's just pathetic.

  • @kenupe1911 why do u say he's a coward and how does he make a spectacle of himself?

  • Gotta love this one! Still have the poster!

  • Being a role model doesn't mean you are raising anyone's kids. Its all about being a good example. WE ALL have an responsibility of being a good example to the youth regardless of whether we have kids or not. And for the record, ROLE MODELS ARE CHOSEN. U can't enforce yourself to be any kid's role model.

  • "i am paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court"

duz anybody else think he sounds like a robot ??? lol

at least he's better now on TNT

  • @WestUpOutlaw What? Whe did he get back on TNT?

  • i gt those kicks

  • I agree with chuck.

  • Preach Chuck Preach!

  • Part of what makes me admire Barkley (although his hypocrisy with LeBron has taken him a step down in my eyes)

  • im 14 and this commercial is older than i am. I heard about while i was reading his book I might be Wrong but I doubt it. Its a very good book

  • thumbs up if u knew about this commericial before lebrons commercial

  • yo dont brag soo much

  • Charles Barkley: "i am not a role model", "I Hate LeBron James Because he resembled My Career With Cleveland, playing for team USA and countless all-star selections but NO RINGS" "Now That He's Gone, He has A Chance To Win rings and that kills me inside" *eats pink doughnut* "I Hope He Doesn't Ever Win Anything.... JUST LIKE ME!!!

  • You are not a Champion

  • Funny how Barkley talks about black people still being in chains, but gets millions of dollars from a company that uses slaves to make their product. Problem with black people that talk about slavery seem to forget it still exists to this day and i've yet to hear about Blacks helping other races. Guess when you make millions of dollars its okay to keep quiet. Look at Lebron James, he kepted quite when he was in China. Because Nike told him to keep quiet.

  • @racheloaky A turrble hurrble turrble thing

  • DAT'S HORRIBLE.

  • I am not a role model!; " Hi Chuck", but no seriously... lol, Charles Barkley needs to shut his damn mouth!!!

  • I am not a role model!; " Hi Chuck", but no seriously... lol, Charles Barkley needs to shut his damn mouth!!!

  • Thumbs up if LeBron's new commercial led you here.

  • then leave Lebron alone!

  • @jleedupond Is that you, Chris Crocker?

  • Parents should be the role models, not fucking athletes.

  • @AttitudeEra4life459 yeah I don't want my parents to fuck any athletes either.

  • @OptimusPrimeribs

COOL! Way to respond to a comment I made 7 months ago. You must be really cool.

  • @AttitudeEra4life459 COOL! Welcome to Youtube, where your comments never die unless you remove them. Welcome to the NBA Finals that revive an interest in NBA history. You must be really naive.

  • Well done LeBron. Charles Barkley how soon we forget when you left the 76'ers chasing a ring that you failed to win with the Suns..smh now you wanna throw stones at Lebron..Not to mention Carl Malone's pathetic failed attempt to joint the Lakers thinking he'd get a ring at the end of his ringless career. The vile comments made by the Owner confirms that Lebron made the right Decision. He fullfilled his contract and put the spotlight on the Cavs, show some class and and stop Hatin on the Man.

  • @watchdawg11 charles never joined up with any other top five player in his prime. he left the sixers and went to a better team yes, but he was the man on that team. when he was a actually a ring chasing coattail rider his skills eroded significantly and he was 30+ and same with cowboy malone too, they were old and had fufilled all they could as elite players.

  • @watchdawg11 Barkley wasn't chasing a ring at that point, he left Philly because he was upset with management for trying to deal him in the offseason without giving him a heads up

  • @watchdawg11 But Chuck didnt have a hour long special on where he would go.

  • @justin080995 leave lebron alone o and justin is a gay persons name.

  • @MrIamabitch just about as gay as ur dad.

  • @justin080995 if he were gay i wouldent have been havent i dick sucker.

  • @MrIamabitch hes gay now and ur gay 2 faggot.

  • @justin080995 he still got a wife.

i got a girlfriend so fuck off.

  • @MrIamabitch Sure. thats what they all say Faggot

  • @watchdawg11 Plus The 76ers won 35 games chucks last year. Thats why he wanted a trade.

  • wat da fuk wats dat? lol

  • Wheres the donut

  • @killermel23 at lebrons commercial

  • ole donut eating lil boy

  • If I am your role model, your trrrbl.

  • Hi Chuck ;)

  • Well done

  • how the hell did LeBron own Charles?

  • @thewestnile He didn't. Charles was a man with pride, and LeBron ran like a lil bitch.

  • Lebron is not a role model, he's not a thug, he's not a killer, He's a real man working hard everyday and taking care of his family! Something that alot of so called real men lack alot these days! Everybodies excuse is I'm not perfect, another cop out! Its called having common sense! :)

  • LeBron fucked ur ass up Chuck!

  • Hi Lebron

  • Hi chuck

  • hi chuck

  • Hi Chuck

  • hi chuck

  • Hi Chuck.

  • WOW...LeBron just owned Barkley in EPIC fashion here...I'm speechless!

  • WHERES THE DONUT CHUCK?

  • lol thx for the HISTORY CLASS LEBRON lmao

  • CLASSIC!

  • ::eats doughnut:: Hi Chuck!

    LOL Lebron Strikes

  • lebron jus clowned this fat coon...

  • Strong message, but this doesn't make me want to buy shoes.

  • Hahaha lebrons ad is 10x better

  • Lebron's new Nike ad brought me here out of curiosity

  • @oBeastCity lol me too

  • @oBeastCity i've always known chuck says this but i've never seen the commercial so when i say lebrons retarded commercial i decided to come look at this

  • @oBeastCity same here

  • @oBeastCity I think I've seen this before. It was actually written by Charles himself. I like the ad a lot and agree with its message. I think LeBron was very arrogant for the way he did that whole stunt. Making fun of this ad---and Michael,six-rings-Jordan---was a big mistake.

  • @oBeastCity me too

  • @oBeastCity same

  • I agreed with Barkley when I first saw this commercial 17 years ago, and I still agree with him now. The role models children should have are the ones that play an active role in their life. Watching grown men or women play sports or act in movies/TV, or sing doesn't constitute as "an active role". It's the parents and other family members, it's the teachers in school, and for some children: their friend's parents.

  • @Addendum69 Funny how Barkley talks about black people still being in chains, but gets millions of dollars from a company that uses slaves to make their product.

  • @CurblineHighway The Chinese are indeed America's slaves. Yet, Americans like to pretend they've progressed so far.

  • @CurblineHighway

So I guess Oprah's done nothing for anybody? Or Bob Johnson? Or Obama? Those are just a few who have. Honestly, we as black people aren't to a point where we're in position to fully help. Some of those who can help do. But I can honestly say that in many cases, society still holds us (and other races) down as a whole, keeping us from truly moving up the social petastole. Not my opinion, a fact that I've experienced!

  • You aren't getting away with shit so easy.

The people you've mentioned have diddly fucking squat to do with how kids, teens and even adults react to world and learn from the world. They see the person, sure enough, and they hear how Oprah apparently donated several million dollars to some bumfuck charity most def, and all that shit could hit someones brain like the force of a brick, but that won't do shit for their heart or their spirit.

You're a fucking fool and you'll make a shitty parent.

  • @GSNRecords

Whatevr u say. U 4 President! BTW, I hav 2 kids, 1 who's yet to get anything under a B in all his years of school, & the other is about to turn 3 & is already reading at a 2nd grade level! My son is voted player of the season in any sport he plays. All this because of the time I put in as a parent. Need more shitty parents like me I guess.

  • @GSNRecords

he's paid to play basketball, not be a role model. You wanna complain about how there aren't enough role models, stop pointing fingers and maybe look at yourself first.

    Are you a role model?

Are you a person that participates in appropriate behavior and can be imitated by other kids?

You have no idea how difficult it is to be a role model, so unless you fit the category of a 'perfect role model' then i would keep quiet.

I agree with what charles says

    "parents should be role models"

  • This is classic and a half-time sit-down interview with Costas explaining it was really good as well, much more than just something Nike approached him with.

  • this commercial would not be tolerated now a days

  • Daem straight Chuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jivetome i think you an idot charles was one of the bestplayer ever an he's pure heart

he tell people straight about anythings he feels...

  • I Hate North High School Why Couldn't They Film This Commercial At Central High School

  • Charles Barkley - one of the realest niggas alive!

  • Pure Nike marketing, even in the day nobody outside of Phoenix wanted to be ugly ass Charles Barkley who couldn't even keep focused and serious in Game 6 of the 1993 NBA Finals on the cusp of winning his first championship yet laughing ang giggling like a little school girl with the Bulls players like it was a Sunday morning pick-up game and nothing was at stake. A Little person should have punched him in his "Not a role model" balls already.

  • well there goes my first choice for step-father...

  • Go ahead Charles tell these stupid ass parents what time it is.

  • I am not a role model. I am just an overweight loose lippedex nba player who like to get bj's from hookers ;)

  • damn...after all these years....i still fuggin love this commercial....barkley was the Anti-Jordan.....and we loved him for it.

  • Holy truth

  • Daaaaaaaamn right!

  • wow, this was before barkley became an absolute joke.

  • @jivetome how is barkley an absolute joke? makes a ton of money on commercials and through TNT... Has always been upfront about his immortalities... Stop hating.

  • @crazytrain2008 he's a joke because everyone shits on him for being a lazy fatass who eats too much. look up any recent commercial with charles barkley in it and it always shows him eating food or being a slob. I'm not hating, i'm telling the truth. dumb ass.

  • @jivetome that doesnt make him a joke DUMB ASS... makes him money and you are hating.. plenty of players turn into lazy slobs and fat asses after their careers are over... who is the one with all the commercial and tv gigs? Charles... he's no joke. only you are dummy.

  • @crazytrain2008 Wow, nice try in defending barkley. Surely many players get out of shape after their careers, but they don't start starring in t-mobile commercials and taco bell commercials where all they talk about is eating and sitting in chairs. Sure he might be making tons of money, but simply only because he's relying on his past fame. That's probably one or two steps above prostitution. You're obviously being retarded for trying to justify his current lifestyle and career.

  • @jivetome

Of course he's relying on his past fame. EVERY SINGLE ATHLETE RELIES ON THEIR PAST FAME YEARS AFTER THEY RETIRE. Jackass,

  • @KillSwitch2 Yeah, but he's clearly not doing anything genuinely productive with it. Others athletes try to capitalize on their athletic achievements by taking buisness ventures and other exploits (i will say that some of these people have flopped in the buisness world outside of athletics). Yet barkley just sits on his ass doing nothing. So how you shut the fuck up and try to see beyong the general stereotype, faggot.

  • @jivetome

Faggot? Ah yes, the the simple-minded meathead who must resort to hate slurs when he has absolutely nothing left to say or counter with. Go count the warts on your mother's vagina you venereal chowder bowl.

  • @KillSwitch2 Yep. Your definitely so much more intelligent than I am, I actually backed up my claim why I thought Barkley was a loser. You are clearly an ignorant tl;dr dumb ass. Can you be any more of a hypocrite? YOU are the one without any argument, you make a stupid long ass diss and yet you have nothing to say regarding the topic at hand. How fucking bad are you at this lol?

  • @jivetome apparently you are a youngin.....Barkley averaged 25 and 12....he gets respect for his game when he played........you need to ask Jordan, Bird, Malone, or Magic about Barkley's game....not his commercials.....maybe you watch too much TV and you are a "slob".

  • @dazamaru Like peopel that actually watch basketball, I watch this thing called TNT Half time report when basketball is on espn where everyone practically rips on the guy for being a fatass and virtually not doing any thing to lose weight. Sorry that i had to speak the unspoken truth about your "idol". And im pretty sure everyone knows that barkley was one of the most dominant PF's in his prime, there's this thing called "wikipedia" on the internet but i guess ur too old to know about that huh?

  • @dazamaru and try to make a valid argument before making a pathetic insult old man. you havent actually rebuffed my claim that barkley is a fatboy who makes money off of poking fun at his weight.

  • @jivetome LOL..."rebuff your claim?"...Why? You are pretty much making a ass out of yourself by hating on a sucessful man's weight. Barkley's fat, and makes a hell of a lot of money. So What? You jealous? How much do you make a year? Ranting on youtube about Barkley?

Kid, ya pathetic. These cats are slicin you up, and you just dont know when to go home.

  • @dazamaru haha love how you got so fed up with me criticizing your boyhood idol that you got off topic and forgot about the subject at hand. You're clearly a delusional individual because i wouldn't let people simply shit all over me just so i can get money. i wouldnt mind being the barkley of his 20's, but the guy he is now? who everyone laughs at? lol, maybe for someone such as yourself who doesn't give a shit about dignity or pride because clearly all you care about is money.

  • @jivetome I find it funny you are criticizing someone you know nothing about! All you know is what the news or whoever says! Do you honestly think he cares if people laugh at him? I know i wouldn't! All that matters in the end is what kind of person you are. He is a basketball legend and always will be... and for that no one cares what he is doing now! He has earned his fame and his money too! Face it... he is Charles Barkley... which is more than you will EVER be!!!

  • @6ixty5ivestang Not going to argue with someone whose way too late to the party and addresses a comment I made 4 months ago which I already covered in my other posts. Find something better to do with your pathetic life than try to start shit over youtube. Blah blah blah barkley is a legend blah blah. Jesus fucking christ this is like a loop tape or something, can't you retards come up with anything more creative to say?

  • @dazamaru slicing me up? try again old fag. your the one who wishes he was a fat ass "has been" tv personality. please substantiate your argument before you try to declare your victory. this time try to keep on topic and not let your emotions get the better of you lol.
