Okay, I just saw the first movie the other day. I'm not a fan nor have I read the books, but from what I gathered from the film, Edward is not 300 years old. I seem to remember a scene where he spoke about being 17 when he was dying of the Spanish Flu during WWI, and he was made a vampire then. That would make him just a bit over 100 years old, counting his age at the time, plus the years he's been a vampire. So, essentialy, he's frozen in time at age 17.
