Rubinstein was about 77, he played this in the Great Hall Moscow 1964 -that year he came to Australia. & I as a young music student I was privileged to sit on stage about 15 feet away from him @ Sydney Town Hall (of course it was booked out for weeks b4). he sat, back straight, minimal body movements almost sphinx like facial expression -but what a sound & how he could shape the unending line of the music -truly a memorable experience. listen to his early recordings made in the 1930s -magical
