  • lol whoever made those extinguishers should be shot

  • my favorite part was when A-10 Warthog catches fire on takeoff

  • give me an extingusher too

  • Some good piloting under pressure there.

  • thats some skill

  • I wish people would learn to use fire extinguishers properly. Don't aim at the flames! Aim at the source of the flames (point-blank if possible) to starve the fire and cool all ignition sources below ignition temperature.

  • The pilot must have been scared to death.

  • Hehe, even the fire looks like the real deal.

  • Excellent work! This is exemplary fire extinguishing mastery at its best. Despite what people think, the more people that rush the plane with extinguishers, the better. Fire extinguishers can sometimes be faulty, so more is good. I'm betting the pilot was very happy about the quick response of the ground team. No visible damage to the plane. : ) Good job!

  • hahaha cha ching, how many idiots does it take to put a fire out?

  • Bug strike in the engines... Sully Sullenberger must have been flying...

  • it probably aspirated some bug or other huge insect.

  • it is not fire it is AFTERBURNER

  • Atach mini airsoft guns or gun or just the motor, thus you will have a shooting rc plane, and you can dogfight lmao.

  • what sort of extingquishers are they? halon? so as not to screw up the engines

  • The first Firefighter is barefoot! Ha!

  • made in honcong brol

  • WE NEED ALL 4 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS DAMMIT!!!

  • damn, i never knew New Zealanders were so big. I'm glad they helped our pilot out.

  • made in china

  • xjet does that plane have brakes?

  • Wow he killed it with the fire extinguisher 2:05

  • Well thats good they saved the model, its pretty damn good looking.

  • Note to fire crews: When an A/C is coming in with an in-flight emergency, position people all along the runway so wherever the plane stops, there's someone right there. It looks like everyone started running down the runway *after* the plane touched down--and was rolling away from the crash crew. Good job anyway! Cool video!

  • Should've done a barrel roll.

  • no fuel shutoff??

  • Who else noticed in the slow motion part, that everyone sounds like Chewbacca?

    no?

    just me?

oh ok fine, -crawls back into hole-

  • The real A-10 has extinguisher bottles in the engines! :)

  • What about RC Fire trucks :DDD

  • But will it blend?

  • um.. does my flight insurance cover unexpected engine fires?

  • mayday mayday mayday

  • ok looks like im the one who is going to have to ask...how much? i mean yea, countless hours of time. how much money does somthing like that cost? dont be embarassed you can tell us. totally awesome by the way.

  • Active rescue team. Bravo. And nice plane too

  • made in china plane

  • Come on now Gentlemen, anyone who has worked around jets knows you never extinguish the exhaust, you direct the nozzle to the intakes and spray /through/ the engine, spraying the exhaust only blows the extinguishing media away from the fire. It's fortunate to see someone understand this later on.

  • Must have been a fly-strike!

  • Wow that was some fast thinking on the part of the pilot and ground crew. Could have been a total loss.

  • allaway bring your hat to a fire in NZ? lol

  • Model JET plane? That is too cool...

  • this video reminded me about those trick birthday candles

  • haha typical Kiwi's in shorts and jandels playing firemen

  • That model is magnificent, but I can't get over the poise of the pilot to make such a nice landing under stress. Well done all around!

  • how come no body is caring for the man drowning at 3:29?? you can clearly hear him calling out "help help" throughout the rest of the video.

  • the pilot is a master, very good hurry up landing and control of the plane with less than a half of the original power of the engine, VERY GOOD. Another price for the landing support team, very fast emergency response.

  • Maybe a piped in HALON on-board system can be installed. Then if the servos are not compromised can glide in. This would reduce repair costs. The problem would be weight

    3. Schöne Landung trotzt problem :D

  • I must say, that was a nice emergency landing.

  • This is what you came for: 1:30

  • Heat + fuel + oxygen = fire. Take away one ingredient, and you put out the fire. My guess is, the engines were still hot, the fuel (oil?) was still leaking in and draft through the engine nacelles caused the reignition. Next time, guys - dry chemical powder or foam.

  • @JBofBrisbane and then have fun cleaning everything out later. The jet engines can handle the flames, it's the rest of the aircraft that has to be saved.

  • there should be a fuel dump on its wings

  • cheech and chongs plane.... Up In Smoke!

  • fly this ontop of a military base :D

  • Both turbines shooting yellow flame......I'm probably wrong but to have both turbines throwing yellow flames has me thinking he was pumping too much turbine oil into the shaft housings.

  • you should make it so the little pilot can eject

  • @MrKyleSchick Hell no! You know how much money that damn thing cost?!??!? Gotta be in the thousands! They're not going to waste their money for some measly little crash.

  • @Pr3dProductionsHD yeah because they obviously dont have any money to spend on a miniature jet fighter

  • Simulated bird strike LoL!!

  • Where about's in New Zealand is this? Would love to come be a spectator sometime

  • @EnvisionFilms It is at the annual ANZAC jet rally held in February of each year at Tokoroa.

  • @xjet Thanks for the quick reply, I'll have to try and make it down that way at some point.

  • Nice model and very well handled situation.

  • nice to see the cammaraderie in trying to save the airplane... some would have thrown marshmellows at it...

  • MAY DAY MAY DAY

  • Despite the urgency of the situation the pilot made a beautiful landing! This is called in French "avoir des nerfs d'acier !"

  • what kind of engines does these models use ?

  • you sir are a great pilot

  • These guys with the fire extinguishers were like "Yes!! I get to use my extinguisher!!"

  • no it took alot cause its jet fuel its hard to put out and burns very hot only thing thats harder is rocket fuel

  • lol theres like 5 guys running with extinguishers

  • Nice shorts @2:38

  • It already frightens the Taliban!!

  • faster than the real security team

  • A-10 with Afterburners... (o_O)

  • Say the pilot was very happy with the outcome of his emergency landing...could have been alot worse ie.no plane left just a ball of flames...he would have to thank the other guys for their quick responce to the plane...great landing under pressure..

  • POINT THE DAMN EXTINGUISHERS IN THE INTAKE! Not from behind... geez.... Know how to fly a jet, but not keep one from burning. Glad you saved the plane though. Good landing also.

  • I'd be interested in the post incident report on what happend to cause both engines to ignite.

  • It looked nice in the are... like it had afterburners

  • You got the real combat A10 experience.

  • is that a real jet angin ?

  • @treelizard99 Yes those are real RC jet engines. Very expensive.

  • wow, that looks like an expensive hobby! how much is a model jet?

  • @SoCalTonyRadford

just the engines on that plane cost around 5000$ each, jet planes of that size cost from 10 000$ and up

  • some fckng butterfly just entered the engine i think :p pretty pity anyway :s

  • DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM GOOD JOB ON SAVING THAT BAD AZZZ PLANE> NICE>

  • those squirrels tanks got lucky this thing huh?

  • omg, both?

  • looks like he had a double 'bug' strike lol

  • Great video - proper hellfire!!! Lovely model too - I am sooooooo jealous

  • Maybe on larger (and more expensive) models like this you could add a safety feature to injects foam into the engines. I guess it would be a pain to clean, but better than fire damage. Also As OghamTheBold says, a slow CO2 feed into the ducts.

  • whats funny is the video i watched before this, the rc was on fire and only one extinguisher and it was empty, bet he was jealous when he watches this video

  • Good thing is that the plane doesn't look to much the worse for wear. The paint didn't look bad at all. I would say that the owner is fortunate. This could have ended much worse!

  • My electric a-10 that's half that size cost me $500... That must be worth quite a bit! Does anyone know where to get them?

  • @rudyauction8 you build em or sell you house... ;)

  • This plane can be used to frighten the Talibans!

  • @JohnVincent29 well when if it was burning it would probably excite them

  • Maybe - caps to seal both engine ducts - would keep more CO2 in (and dreaded O2 out)

The 4 caps could be joined to allow 1 small CO2 cylinder to continually 'fill' the now relatively sealed turbine compartments (would need much lower pressure / volume / fill rate than the ones for much bigger fires)

Like a pair of giant pliers with 4 caps - 2 on each side for safely clamping front and back - a small CO2 bottle could even be incorporated in to the handle - set to relatively slow feed

  • AWESOME. THE FIRE WAS WHAT DID IT FOR ME. THAT THING IS BITCHEN!

  • I can hear guy from RCModelReviews asking why it caught on fire

    hehe :)

  • eject eject eject!!!

  • what I highly trained ground crew!

    quick work guys!

  • Great save!

  • I was laughing my ass off with that thing keep restarting on fire!

  • ooops how much does this cost

  • OK, are we agreed. No one tell his wife about this... How much does something like that cost?

  • Very well executed emergency fire procedure, good to hear no serious damage sustained.

  • I love the little pilot lol

  • Lol, it looks badass tho

  • Best landing Ive ever seen in an emergency!

  • i think the first thin they should have done after it landed was cut power and fuel in my opinion but still a good job

  • too bad for that nice model

  • xD That plane was pretty damn intent on burning. Extinguished like 10 times

  • yeah, it's called fuel

  • i build a kill switsh on min that i control manual or with a independent servo with a extra small emrgency baterry and extra reciver and controller^^

  • Nice save.

  • i wanna put my hamster in it.

  • @cvm3677 get a hamster ejection seat.

  • Taking a realism to a all new level! With a single engine failure on take off and a emergency landing. All you need now is a RC fire truck :-)

  • Not even much damage to the tail surfaces. Good job!

  • badass landing!

  • why was it on fire?

  • Nice afterburner effect lol glad the plane was saved

  • That makes me feel very unhappy. I hope, all is ok now with the Warthog

  • is the pilot OK??! xD XD call the ambulance!!! LMAO

  • that was awesome! :D

  • that was some pretty cool afterburner mang

  • bahahah they were mobbin deep with those fire extigushers

  • would have been awesome to see it fly around with flames coming out of it until it exploded.

  • How many ppl does it take to put out an A10 engine fire?

  • @2012GST All of them, apparently... ;)

  • SO GLAD you had so little damage, great reaction time and way to stay calm. That is a brilliant looking aircraft, the amount of work shows. Hope to see much more soon!

  • so the reason for this fire wasn't an issue with RC jets, but the fact that yours had an AFTERBURNER, am I correct? that's what I heard ppl talking about in the end, or was that just an idea someone had?

  • Plus these rc jets are reaaaaaaally expensive. Jus sayin it prolly costs more than your parents car. And anything you own lol

  • @11yearoldpilot

You're a moron. Jet fuel = extremely flammable. Oxygen = more food for fire. Jet turbine = high engine pressures, high fuel pressure, high air pressure. Pressure is conducive to thermal expansion (aka heat turning into a visible fire by consuming fuel)

    Stfu

  • Ooooh look a small engine fire why dont we go and take 50 guys and waste all our fire extinguishers when i can just pee on it so if ther is another fire we will regret what we did lol Hey we need back up so a guy in girl shorts ,sandels and a gay hat runs to the rescue. Cant we all see the airport firefighter wanna bees lol

  • was the motor saved ?

  • I don't mind, its cool. but why invasions stripes on a A-10?

  • Kudos to the pilot! Well done! I've been flying the kind of airplanes you get into since I was 17. I've been concerned in flight, but never scared. I flew a RC (two control) once. That's the only time I have actually experienced something like FEAR while flying, and I was on the bloody ground! RC flying skills are of a very high order. I stand in awe of good RC pilots!

  • No one used the fire extinguisher properly in this video, biggest indicator is they used it more than once

  • 3:08 finally someone use the extinguisher in the right way..

  • thats a lot of money that allmost went up..

  • how many fire fighters does it takes to put out that flame?

  • This is new A-10 with afterburn xD

  • excellent flying. dont your planes have a fuel shutoff

  • Why is there always a barefoot guy in the mix?

  • Am I the only one that considers flying RC jets very dangerous? The fuel, the turbines, the speed, the weight...and all those people on the ground...

  • @rva1945 I'm not aware of anyone having been killed by an RC jet -- however, lots of people are killed every day while driving their cars or just being a pedestrian. I think RC jet flying is a pretty safe pastime then.

  • @xjet : You state the obvious, and that does not help the question at hand.

  • @xjet it's pretty dangerous, i stick to electric power

  • @rva1945 yes

  • @rva1945 The technology has advanced to the point where these things could obviously be used as weapons also. Where do you draw the line between a model and a drone?

  • @55chh Yes, you could look at things that way, but evil has always found ways to make commonplace things into tools for doing harm. It would be very difficult to find a place to launch and fly a craft like this anywhere near where it could do much damage significant enough to restict the freedom of citizens.

  • @rva1945 There are usually safety regs in place, but yes people have been killed by RC aircraft, not only jets. But as pointed out, more people die on the roads every day than are killed in any given year by RC aircraft.

  • @rva1945 ive been flying RC Planes for over 40 years right from the early days and never seen anyone been injured let alone been killed i know that there has been more people been injured and killed fishing best bet is to take up Art and watch the paint dry

  • @rva1945 If one went out of control, it could be very dangerous to people. But that applies to prop RC planes too.

  • @rva1945 only the turbine ones could catch fire like that, electric ones just fail in mid air with no fire

  • Comment removed

  • @rva1945 It's true, RC jets are very dangerous but people in the hobby wouldn't spend a small fortune on a model like this if they didn't know what they were doing! Granted accidents happen and that will never change no matter if it's crossing the street or staying at home! SHIT HAPPENS!!!

  • @rva1945 Most RC pilots are very responsible and indeed carry liability insurance.

  • @rva1945 Yes you are! Even sex might be dangerous under certain circumstances

  • @rva1945 yes i think you are

They are moresafe, more reliable than piston engines and forgive me but dont we sit in airplanes that have jets? and we fly them over water...

If you ask me if you fly then jets are safe

  • Really impressive! I'm guessing that something like this wouldn't be too common place? Would those engines still be usable after such an event?

  • Afterburner idea? For an A-10?!

  • Nice afterburners

  • lol idiot, the guy ran over barefoot to the jet engine leaking jet fule

  • i live for hilarious youtube comments

  • i live for hilarious youtube comments

  • lolzzzz thats funny

  • thank god the pilot made it.

  • Maybe installing an internal ignition system besides a Bic lighter could save some time and fuel ;) just sayin...

  • I love his response when the guy behind the camera asks what happened and he just says "it caught fire".

  • Cool
