  • I read somewhere that this segment is about good vs. evil

  • Disney and Beethoven who knew that they mixed so well

  • You remember music counted in wholes, halfs, quarters, eighths, and sixteenth notes to make beats of sounds and rests counts beats of silence?

As orchestra people learned those sharp notes "#" and natural notes they play in together in sharps and natural notes?

A sharp note "#", this sharp note tells us to raise a note in half step or double sharp notes tells to raise a note in whole step?

A natural note, this natural notes always a normal key, it cancels sharp and flat notes?

  • They play beethoven symphony no. 5 in C minor as they play themselves in fantasia chicago symphony orchestra?

They learned every expressions as "P" as in piano means soft, and "F" as in forte means loud?

  • 9 idiots that listen Justin bieber

  • I used to think this was scary as a kid... now I know it was because my brain was not yet ready for the SHEER EPICNESS.

  • NOW HOW POWERFUL IS THIS PIECE! DAMNN!

  • Rapture anybody?

  • The music is actually Beethoven's 5th Symphony and Ludwig van Beethoven was the composer for that tune.

  • Funny, that's what it looks like when I jizz out of the cockpit of an airplane

  • I think Tim Burton had something to do with this.

  • It's in the wrong key! -.- lol but i luv fantasia!!!

  • 11th years old of Fantasia.. STILL EPIC MAN!!

  • If you notice, Disney's view of life has sharpened dramatically since the 1940 version of Fantasia presented itself. It is beautiful, but harsher in 2000. I prefer the 1940 personally.

  • So this is awesome and everything. But has anyone else noticed that it's in the wrong key...?

  • @conorconnor It's in the right key when you watch it on Blu-Ray. For some reason the sounds on DVDs and videos are eeeever so slightly higher than when recorded.

  • i yayed for the little orange one!

  • So simple, yet so brilliantly effective!

  • i have big penis

  • @josephmonana12 what the hell are you thinking!!!???

  • i LOVE the colours in this piece. so beautiful!

  • I can't believe it was 11 years and I was 3 years old when i started watching the first disney movie fantasia 2000

  • Epic War 5- 'Colors of the Wind' reject leaves vs. The Goddamn Bat Chips.

  • @DarthRaukrist reminds of inoue orihime a bit :P

  • It's so beautiful, so beautiful, so powerful ... We could cry. No, we cry.

  • I watched this when I was little and it influenced my life so much. The music itself is magnificent, but this video just adds so much to it and I've never been able to hear this song without thinking of the video. I always get the goosebumps.

  • This gave me the shivers.

  • I always thought the black things were bats...

  • are they butterflies or pieces of paper or chips?

  • @kaynanmg maybe non... MAYBE ALL xD!!!

  • Radiant beams shoot through the deep night of this region, and we become aware of gigantic shadows which, rocking back and forth, close in on us and destroy all within us except the pain of endless longing—a longing in which every pleasure that rose up amid jubilant tones sinks and succumbs.

  • Only through this pain, which, while consuming but not destroying love, hope, and joy, tries to burst our breasts with a full-voiced general cry from all the passions, do we live on and are captivated beholders of the spirits

  • @kaynanmg chips. definitely chips.

  • When those black butterflies broke out all hell broke lose

  • Warning: not for any prone to elliptic seizures or sensitive to music or animation created by sheer geniuses.

  • BEWARE OF EVIL BUTTERFLY RAPISTS!!!

  • I've seen this so many times, and I still cry every time I watch it.

  • i always feel sad when i see the guardian butterfly get hurt and push the baby away :( lol

  • hmm... very preatty... BUT I DON?T GET THE STORY HERE!

  • @Danarogon I think it whatever you want it to be, could be religious, military, anything

  • @WoodenBokken actualy is graphic design and concept art :D

but still don't get the story xD preatty butterflys are happy but then bad butterflys swarm every were for no reason just to be pwened by the rainbow power? i rather the first fantasy x) at least at that time disney's animation movies were GOOD! not like this digital crap they make today.

  • @Danarogon i think the black things are actually supposed to be bats. it doesn't really have to have a story though as long as it gets the emotion across. that's the main point in this piece.

  • Awww I remember I used to cry while I saw this clip when I was younger... :c

    In fact... I still do.

  • And then god jizzed

  • Like this if you were left awestruck and replayed this

  • only disney can make me feel sorry for a piece of paper

  • disney movies, the one before the corrupt version, actually had deep meanings in each, the new one does not, well, movies like tangled, the princess and the frog, and bolt were good, but still, a lot of other movies, (mostly the disney channel shit) is polluting disney, heck, they are inappropriate, they will not help kids learn when they grow up

  • Is it not in the original key?

  • @wongtintok when uploading videos like this that are really sensitive to copyright laws and such, usually the record labels and filming companies use software that detects the material. Altering the pitch and speed a tiny bit helps avoid inquiries of that matter

  • @leftmebreathless79

    Wait, WHAT?!

HOW ON EARTH CAN THESE MUSIC COMPANIES CLAIM COPYRIGHT FOR CLASSICAL-FUCKING-MUSIC?!

Isn't most of it in the public domain?

  • We can't stop here... THIS IS BAT COUNTRY lol

  • When I was a kid, I had a nightmare where I was riding a jet ski through those color mountains at 2:04

    weird.

  • 2 butterflies vs. 2 million bats. yeah that seems fair. RUN FORREST, RUN!

    RUN AWAY!!!!! :O

and I know they added more butterflies but still....outnumbered much?

  • Pretty butterflys and ugly nocturne moths.. damn ugly nocturne moths .........!!

  • 2:18 PROCTECTIVE RAINBOW ACTIVATEDDDD!!

  • hahaha. the upload changed the key. the first few notes startled me.

  • @hunterthompson3 So it's not just me! I was thinking, "...really? That's the key?" :P

  • Eargasm

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!! That was AH-mazing

  • 2:16 TASTE THE RAINBOW MOTHER FUCKER

  • @Zortov I love you.

  • @Kirkeyressa :3

  • This was THE DISNEY!

  • @Mrphe3000

You actually used to become smart watching Disney! :D Now it's all about Justin Beiber shit. D:

  • questo è quello che dovrebbe essere insegnato ai bambini.

  • This one always scared me shitless as a kid XD

  • A wild Zubat appears!

  • @manvout Σοβαρά, τι αντίδραση λες να είχε μετά από αυτό ο Μπετόβεν;

  • Holy shit. That was amazing.

  • it would have been intresting to watch deaf beethoven react to this visual. wow!

  • I love FANTASIA!

  • its all backwards...the happy parts in the music are dark parts in the movie, nd the dark parts in the song are happy parts...it should have at least ended evilly...

  • @Musicalme96 You assume because it goes to a major key, its happy? ha!

  • @Jolteon206 well it sure as hell sounds happy, nd the whole point of music is wat it sounds like

  • @Jolteon206 c'est Beethoven. pure badass.

  • 1:50 Yum! Flying Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips!

  • This is the most epic Rainbow Butterfly War ever. holy crap. never thought I'd say THAT. props to Beethoven and Disney for making it possible.

  • finally. an animation about flying, multi-colored Doritoes accompanied by classical music.

  • Beethoven is THE master!

I like listening to his music and to play it ,too.

  • "I love the way they combined the image with the sound" ?....really?...i mean, thats the whooole point of this film, isnt it?

  • @videocrack246 ? u don't have to criticize... i mean, dang, it's just her opinion.

  • Argh, the key of the piece in this video is higher than the original. Annoying as hell.

  • You see, this is the power of the old Disney, they could make me feel sorry for LITTLE FLYING PIECES OF PAPER!

  • @SUPERchuCkyDoG 10 years old is hardly the old disney......How old are you 12?

  • @SUPERchuCkyDoG 10 years old is hardly the old Disney......How old are you, 12?

  • @khetnhio lol, nah, by old Disney I really meant GOOD Disney. They just don't have that anymore. :(

  • @SUPERchuCkyDoG This is what you call "old Disney"? Damn, now I fell old...

  • @SUPERchuCkyDoG This is only 11 years old. :)

  • @SUPERchuCkyDoG this was 2000!!!

  • Music is great but I don't quite like the animation in this one. It seems they were trying to be more "artsy" than actually showing a story. The visuals did not match up well with the general them of the music, but that just my opinion.

  • * heaven vs. hell

  • Thumbs up for Goosebumps!

  • Damn those triangle butterflies! Now every time I hear Beethoven, I will want Doritos.

  • @lollerfisk HAHA i never thought of that XD

  • Ludwig Vannnnnnn ♥

  • Wrong key. haha

  • This is why we CAN have nice things.

  • This is what happens when you do LSD and listen to Betoven. :) JK

  • A true music video.

  • @ChronoKnuckles

Well I remember a field trip while I was in like 1st grade...We saw this at the theater, I think. Something like that.

  • This is inferior to Toccata and Fugue in D Minor the opening to the orginal FANTASIA.

DMinor was abstract imagery putting us into another dimension of what would be like to have "Music Vision."

This here is crippled by trying to tell...something story and just randomly putting images to go with the music. Something about goodvs.evil w/ butterflies some colored some coming from the ground and odd things happening just to go with the beat. This is just a mess of an opening to the original.

  • @AspergianMind: Actually, the visual shows a similar story to how Beethoven described his entire 5th symphony only it is summarised completely in the first movement.

  • @Thegodoffails What exactlly was his story for this? I do sense this can tell a story, but the choice of images more confuse me than meditate me like what DMinor did.

A prime example at 1:27 - 1:36 Why that hypono-thing? What's point of that? Why the change in coloration and those butterflies doing line formation? Going so far out of the way to just put something to go within a gap of music they didn't clearly figure out to begin with. It debased the consistant tone that DMinor had.

  • @AspergianMind: Well, partially becayse at the end of the day fantasia was aimed to introduce children to classical music (at least partially) and as I child I loved both fantasias' because of the colour that each piece of music had with it. But Beethoven himself described his 5th symphony as being someone who had lost their way (reperesented by the darkness) and eventually finding it again by the 4th movement. Overall I feel it tells a similar story.

  • thank u so much to disney!! for this amazing movie!! everytime i see this film i finish crying is wonderfoul and so sad this movie represented really we make with our planet is so sad we must care our planet and remember allways but allways exist the happines and hope.

  • Memoriiies.... whats happened to Disney ?

  • i have never seen this, it's so beautiful

  • i have not a shadow of doubt that half of this is computerized... come on then old disney! trash the disney channel and all its crap and computers and go back the beautiful animation you used to make!

  • It's far too rushed. Needs to be slower to appreciate the majesty of it.

  • This is such a hard piece of music to animate, I'm surprised they actually came to a consensus as to what to draw.

  • what a rape of europe classical music...sad to hear excellent music with this us bullshit

  • @carbonhealth ur comment is bullshit

  • couldn't 1:28 cause seizures?

  • It´s amazing how these modern animators completely drop the ball. This is not even worthy to lie in the shadow of the 1940 film.

Why the two cute butterflies? Why is Disney so story hungry? Don´t they understand the meaning of the term Abstract?

What a waste of time, talent, and money...no wonder this film bombed.

  • @ddd1953 Uh, I think this was pretty damn abstract. They're not even 'bats' or 'butterflies'. They're just shapes. You perceive them as butterflies.

And this bombed, because people can't appreciate music like this anymore, or animation, no matter how dynamic and beautiful.

  • Anyone else think about Good vs bad in this music?

  • This is awesome but nothing beats the original Fantasia :P

  • This is a lot like Toccata & Fugue in the original

  • Disney used to be a lot better.

  • I would love to hear Zarathustra, Messiah, and Ode to Joy in Fantasia.

  • I'm not really sure what the theme of this piece was...The animation theme of it...

  • @CyberChick2011 Its abotut the battle between darkness and light.

  • @queijada0 Ah, that makes sense. Thanks. :)

  • BE3EESSSST EVAARTTTT!

I LOVE THIS ANIMATION GODDAMMIT I LOOVE IT!

  • when i saw the mommy bird survive i was incredibly cheered up.

  • Who the hell listens to Beethoven's 5th and thinks butterflies? Lazy, flat, and pointless.

  • @TheDSil Dude, its not about "butterflies" its about light triumphing over evil, and beethoven's 5th is titled 'Fate', so personally i think it fits just fine.

  • @TheDSil At the beginning of the movie, they say that Beethoven's 5th is music of a 3rd kind: music that exists simply for its own sake. Meaning it has no particular story, but Disney (brilliantly) gave it a story. On top of that, it symbolizes the battle of light and darkness, with the butterflies as the light and the bats as the darkness. Not pointless, just awesome.

  • @Nsanity96 Man!! I´m so glad you find a meaning behind the otherwise abstract figures. There´s also a very interesting part, in which the bats surround the butterflies, ad then try to attack them: it appears as if something is protecting them, represented by a rainbow. Perhaps the butterflies represent mankind, as they come to exist from a light that rains down to them, being that creation, with its power hidden behind vaporous clouds. It seems like a metaphor for creation.

  • es increible como el dibujo se me hace completanemente acorde a la musica

  • We should unfreeze Walt Disney from his block of ice and show him that the Disney Corporation, and channels like the Disney channels have gone to complete crap

  • wordless :)

  • i was like. AWWWWWWWWWWW ; A ; when the orange shape risk itself for the little shape

  • This gives me goosebumps because it reminds me of when I was little and used to watch this almost all the time. <3

  • WE CAN'T STOP HERE, IT'S BAT COUNTRY!

  • @Esphandiarinia hahahahahhaha you just made my day:) love that movie

  • took me a while, but i figured out your comment lol

  • Only Disney could take Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and relate it to butterflies.

  • @TheCommunistSatire Nooo. Only Disney could take Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and relate it to abstract figures like two triangles that are for some reason completely recognizable as butterflies.

  • What a weird ecosystem. Colorful light bugs flit around until the crust breaks and releases these Ginsu butterflies that prey on them, eventually forming a ceiling that exists until some kind of pulse from above shatters it and sends their fragments down below. Presumably the pastel ones feed on the remains and reproduce so they serve as prey for the next eruption of the black butterflies. And thus the cycle perpetuates.

Or I'm just tired and need to go to bed.

  • เยี่ยม

  • Acidhead27, YOU ARE SO FREKIN RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i pittt the generation of kids who don't have a clue what it is to watch a movie that was drawn, and not computerazied...and who's model in life are whanabes like Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers...when I was a Kid, I wanted to be like Mulan, damn it!!

  • @violingurusaguenay The thing you said about CGI just dissed on the masterwork of Pixar, the ONLY thing that's closest to classic Disney these days. If you want to hate on CGI, make sure it's Dreamworks.

  • fenomenalno!

  • this is true art

  • seizure-al
