okay i agree KHL is not on the level of NHL YET!! but huge progress has been made in two seasons. Nhl is old league and doesnt expand anymore. KHL is a new league and in 10-15 years it could be excellent league if development of the league would be as fast as it is now. And about this Ovechkin vs Crosby shit. theyre both really good but neither of them is the best player of nhl and the whole world. Datsyuk is waaaaaaay better than ovi and crosby. here's a way to settle which league is more skilled. let's look at Marcel Hossa. barely popping 20 goals in the NHL, 3rd liner. Now he's in the KHL and led the league in goals. that right there shows the poor quality of play in the KHL. Alexei Yashin. he was good in the NHL for a bit, then dropped and was awful. the Islanders ship him off to Siberia and he leads the league in points and assists. Again, this shows how bad the KHL is. case closed

The NHL players would stand no chance, these Russians have amazing game plays and forward that can deek any defense. Where as NHL, the style of play is dirty. IE: HITS slashing and etc. Very low disciplined players, there were a few that were good like Wayne Gretzky or Lemieux and etc. look at the world all-stars, Canada won recently but Russia usually dominates.

Sadly for you, hockey in Europe (and Russia respectively) is much more of a team sport than in North America. Actually two sequenced World Cup titles of the Russian squad prove that there are a lot of especially good TEAM players in Russia, because Russian players from NHL barely made up one the third of the team!

yeah..well that`s quite inaccurate..Everyone knows that it aint the russians that are the best team players in the world. They put emphasis on stickhandling & skating, that`s why the russians are good scorers mainly but are not that great as team players. Oh and for you statistic 1/3 of the team might be from the NHL, but it`s that 1/3 that is the skilled one. Ovechkin, Malkin, Kovalchuk, Datsyuk. The only good ones from the KHL are morozov & Radulov..NHL>KHL anyday..

I checked national team site. For the Olympics coach rebalanced the team, so there will be more NHL players (14 of 23). I agree that NHL is the strongest league the world, but only because its sucking out the players from Europe. Seriously, if league consisted mostly of homemade players like all European leagues, the results would be different. But we'll sea everything at the Olympics. It would be great to see Russia-Canada final!

That's so freakin easy to prove...Hockey=pure team sport..Crosby=great goalscorer & even better passer, he backchecks as well & has a great faceoff percentage..Oh and he was on top of the league in points a few years in a row & he is the youngest captain to win the cup in history..Ovechkin on the other hand=Great scorer, average team player since he barely passes to anyone other than himself, barely backchecks..& BTW all the exerts on tv, on the web etc say that Crosby is #1 and Ovi #2..

Oh and Crosby is a much better player collectively speaking than Ovechkin will ever be but Ovechkin is a better goal scorer so we can debate all we want but it's all a matter of opinions when it comes to these two..Both great players but one is great induvidually, the other is great collectively.

Being a hockey player myself, i'll be trying to judge this with an impartial point of view..

No doubt there is talent and vision on the ice in the KHL. But the goalies just are not as good as the ones in the NHL. Also, the highlight reel looks like a saturday night in the NHL. Definitely not as spectacular or executed at great speed.

They should take KHL league/championship winner to play VS. the AHL Calder cup winner.
