Every time I see images or films about them just hits me, "shannon hoon was shannon hoon's toy" and he broke it for good. A mature and well crafted concept that reaches depths was -and still is- so rare for kids their age at that time. They were a contradiction, and sadly lost their balance. Now, for the most part, music has become stagnant and industrialized; just a commodity, like clothes or electronics. Music has become a thing, less of the idea it once was. The machine knows the real, pure music can set the soul free, independent of material control, so it must be destroyed.

The thing that bums me out about blind melon is that most people don't really know how good these guys were. Most people listen to "no rain" and thats it. This band was one of the best bands of that decade, and personally i think they should be as well known as alice in chains, soundgarden etc.

They didn't let success get to them and like shannon said they stayed true, that's what makes them so good. I don't think shannon was really looking to make it huge band make millions of dollars, he was about the music.
