@Dtchmastrkilla7 this show isnt racist.. durikng the 70s in miami and early 60s when cubans started entering the u.s.a. and working they were competeing with black population which was the minority .. riots broke out and there was alot of friction between both cultures and parts of town were not open to cars due to the constant conflicts.. this show is showing the pressures of this time during the early 70s

This show was the first latin-american sit com. It exposed alot of the prejudices and issues the early cuban exiles faced back in the 1970's. Things have changed greatly since then. But most cuban-americans can relate this show and their charachters to their own familes

Its not so much racist. Any cuban will vouch for this one. Black cubans are not looked at as a different race. Amongst themselves, white cubans looks at black cubans, especially in exile, as nothing more than cuban. They are a little " racist " but its more towards the gringos than race per se..
