  • This is a great design, but do you think having the primary detonator 2cm away from the charge is enough? That depends somewhat on which secondary you use, but have you tested it? With a more sensitive secondary, a longer straw and spring could suffice to make up the difference in distance between itself and the detonator.

  • high speed camera is awesome!

  • dude this is genious!

  • Very clever. I relly now on homemade electric caps that do not contain primary explosives (really!) but yours is a fingers and limb saving device.

  • @adriiPortillo

Can you tell me more about your primary less electric caps?

  • @vvideoupl i'll pm it to you, may be too long as a comment.

  • @vvideoupl

Do you hold the caps with something while handling/placing them? Chinese sticks.............but I personally suck at using them.

  • @dawson01912

Sometimes I hold the CapPlacer with a clothespin but most time I hold it with my bare hands by the fuse since the distance between the cap and the washer provides enough protection, an accidental detonation is something almost impossible and 0.2g of DS is too little to cause important damages. My biggest concern is the accidental detonation of the main charge or the booster.

  • @vvideoupl

That washer might go flying in case of accidental detonation. LOL, not, but still.

That's a nice little projectile you'll have there.

  • @dawson01912

You are right, that´s why I hold it by the washer with a clothespin or with my hand right bellow the washer. Just like a gun the eject the projectile and not the gun, if you are holding the washer it will provide enough combined mass to avoid that.

  • @vvideoupl

What you mean with your hand right before the washer? That's where the cap is though. I like the clothes pin idea for holding.

  • @dawson01912

Right before or after, it is just a matter of perspective. I mean if you start from the fuse, I hold the cap by the fuse touching the washer.

  • ... Is that a waterbottle @ 2.00 ?

  • Nice idea Nice vide realy this is excellent work

  • @dascrazyhungarian

    Thanks a lot.

I saw the video you posted testing this setup, it worked very nicely too. Why don´t you post it as a video response to my video? It will help to show how easy it is to be built.

  • @vvideoupl that was what i actualy tried but godamn youtube is that complicated since it was bought by google^^ ill tryit again^^

  • o and since i wasn't tired after the 4kg charge yet could you make a 40kg charge please?^^

  • @BreezeAS

I would love to but first I need to find a suitable location for that.

  • man you're f***in genial!!

  • thats a really good idea! thank you very much for sharing it

  • Holy shit! Excellent video man!

Your idea works great, and that last footage of the 4 kg blast, at 420 fps is AWSOME!

  • @boomboom314159

    Thanks a lot.

  • @unclefesterscrew1

    Thanks man.

Yes, it is very surrealist to consider a DS cap detonating with no reason, it is a very stable and safe primary, I just like to cover all possibilities. The concerning question is: What if…?

Many other people uses much less stable and more sensitive primary explosives like HMTD, AP, silver fulminate…, for those it is a very useful gadget. For the ones with “safe” primaries I don´t think a few cents and less than one minute of work is too much for the safety.
