Almost perfect! The only mistake is the "1982" shown is actually another 1981. 1982 was the first year of the midsize, 108" wb G-Body Bonnies, which are depicted in this video starting with 1983.
@MaximusRelaximus My family still have a 1978 Bonneville and it's still running till this days. The thing is everyone looks at Us when We ride in it since We're Asian. It's a nice comfortable car.

@koioo2 well when they did shut it down, pontiac made just models that were not distinct. their best models were distinct however, but they had a bunch of models that were rebadgers. GMC and Chevrolet are like that too.. but idk

My first car I ever owned when I was a teenager was a 1983 Bonneville sedan. It was a piece of shit, but it was my freedom, so I loved it and I drove it til it was completely dead. I still have the manual and the hood ornament. I'm sentimental!
Sad to see beautifull, stylish, distinctive and well built cars, evolve into anonymous, ugly, boxy, uninspired pieces of crap. Just look at that '65 car. It's the kind of car you don't want to see your daughter disappear into, 'cause that thing looks mean!
And take a look at the '86 (give or take 10 years) car. It's the kind of car YOU don't want to be seen anywhere near.
@maj212212 just bad managmint ponti`s were beautifull cars but at the end of the 70`s caaaboooom disaster ,they just lost there taste and made only disasteras car`s.
I have a '66 2 door hardtop sitting behind my grandma's house. got it when i was 16, traded 2 honda quads for the old girl, havent had the money to do anything with her so shes just been sitting. drove it twice before the tranny decided to go. tough to fix up 1 car when u have to others that need work (77 dodge tradesman200 and my girlfriends 89 blazer)....and a kid on the way. looks like the old girl will be sittng for a few more years :(
Thanks for the post, My dad had a 1969 Bonnevllie, our first car with a stereo radio, He bought it off the lot, did not order it, dark blue with light blue cloth. It had remote ourside mirror, Rally ll wheels and Tilt wheel and Factory air. It did not have power door locks or windows. I sure wish we had kept it. Does anyone know why on a older GM car with tilt whell the Igntion swicht on the steering colunm stuck out? Was that to make room for the tilt wheel, on a non tilt it did not stick out
A shame the 1960 photo had the top up on the convertible..my folks had a '60 bonny convertible, golden tan...fully loaded power everything available plus a/c.. prettiest car ever on the road...always got comments even in 1960..
Sweet, i have a 95 ssei with 230,000 on it but the tranny is making an odd knock in park. I traded a commercial mower for a 97 lhs so my parents said i have to sell my beloved bonne!!! BTW that pic of the 92 isnt a 92 its a 93-95 92's had a pontiac symbol and lines on the grill.
Actually h2wntsu the 92 is correct. The grille your referring to was only on the base Bonne the SSE/i's all got the same and the SE's got them starting in 93.
im having trouble finding out if the car i have is a Bonneville or a grand lemans because the body is a Bonneville but on the side it says its grand lemans
I got an '86, before the corny body upgrade. A steel box, with a vinyl roof. I'm fixing it up because it only has 49K on it (I put 20K on it the last 3 years) and the interior is mint.
well i love the bonnie! my dad has a 2000 version but it looks like the 2001 pic. if you had one, it would pass the bumpy road test VERY well because its so smooth. its very reliable to cause my dad's has about 150-170k on it.
It's amazing how the Bonnie transformed through the years!!! Don't feel so bad, The Grand Am got dumped for the G5 or G6 or whatever number they want to call it these days!!!:(
Pontiac did replace the LeMans name with the Bonneville name for 1982.
Longtime Bonnie buyers were not amused at seeing this marque on an intermediate, so Pontiac responded during 1983 by bringing the Canadian-built Parisienne to our nation (the Parisienne was, for much of its life, the Canadian equivalent of the Bonnie).
The 1983-84 U.S. Parisiennes resembled the Catalina and Chevy Caprice/Impala, while the '85-86s added the Bonnie's rear quarter panels.
PONTIAC screwed up big time when they stopped making the Bonneville. I had a 1993 Bonnie SSEi and loved it. Now they make crap. What the hell is a G6, or a G7 or a Vibe? Who cares? Pontiac screwed their loyal customers over when they dumped Bonnie.
It would appear you are correct. Also, 96 and 97 may indeed be reversed, as I believe that Dark Cherry Red Metallic only became available in 97, and I believe 96 may have been the last year for bright red.
Bought a new Bonneville in 1995, and kept it for 10 years... and which point people were chasing around for it!
Fact is, with the computer command ride and FE3 suspension combination, it was not a good riding car as it aged. You could feel body flex (but not a squeak!) and in sub-zero (F) weather, the suspension rattled badly. Not good for a well maintained major TLC car with 73K on the clock!
PS anyone else notice that 96 and 97 are reversed?
74 and 83 are not Bonneville's; 74 is a Grand Ville (since there was no Bonneville convertible after 70, and no Catalina convertible after 72) and 83 was a Safari wagon and not even on the right platform, in 83 Safari was still B Body, but the Bonneville was a G Body (formerly A Body).
In 1983, however, the B-body Pontiac was the Parisienne which was the Canadian-market version of the original Bonneville. He should have used a pic of the 1983 Parisienne Safari wagon.
me and my dad just got my grandmas 1965 bonneville and its been sitting in her garage for 26 years. it started up like brand new. i cant wait until we get to drive it.
They didn't make them supercharged in 2005. That bodystyle had them supercharged 2000-2003, after that the performance engine was the 4.6 litre Northstar V8.
Yeah! I remember that, when all the car companies were trying to meet CAFE standards for fuel economy. Once they realized their mistake, they re-introduced the fullsize Bonneville as the Parisite...oops, just kidding, the Parisienne (the name of the Canadian model). Unfortunately the Bonneville name had to stay on that "mid-sized" model until the front drive design was ready. ...My favorites are the late 70s/early 80s Diesel equipped versions, ..or the 8 lug wheel versions from the mid 60s.
And the Parisienne sedan did not return for '87 in either USA or Canada (no Parisienne coupes were sold in the USA), although the wagon version, then known simply as Safari (not "Parisienne Safari" as earlier), continued through 1989.
1982 - Bonnie name moves to the intermediate G-body chassis (formerly A-body; the rear-drivers became G-bodies when the A designator moved to front-drive).
Summer 1983 - Pontiac extends availability of the Canadian-market Parisienne line to the U.S. to win back traditional Bonnie customers.
I just bought a '65 Bonneville, Brogham, a couple of weeks ago. Same color as the one in the timeline. Drove it 1250 miles home. Springsteen kept running thru my head,
"Tearing down the hi-way like a big old dinosaur".....21mpg, not bad at all.
After the ugly model years in the 70s and 80s the Bonneville design makes a strong and good "jump" in 1987 and they became more beautiful again, esp. from 1992 till 2005 they are really beautiful and sportive !!!
They didn't make them supercharged in 2005. The last year for supercharged was 2003. After that the performance engine was the 4.6 litre Northstar V8.
I have had 1970 triple black bonne 2 door,1993 purple/gray metallic and a 1999 SLE.I missed the 1970 the most 455,360 hp,500 ft lbs of torque @ 2800 rpm.
I'm partial to the Bonnies fr4om '60-'76. My dad owned a '60, '63, '65 and a '68 as he traded up. The crown jewel to me was the '75 and '76 battleship. Stuffed with a 455 cu in. V8 and sucking a gallon of gas to its 13 miles-per-gallon was a thing of pure excess, but man was it beautiful. Thanks for the post!
The trims are inconsistent. It changes from the fog lights on the edges of the bumper to the lights in the center. This kind of makes it look like the fog lights are dependent on year changes.
Yeah, that's fine. I have an SSEi, and I'm trying to explain that with the various trim levels, the video makes it seem as if the years are what change the look that much rather than the options.
It's really a discgrace how the current generation of GM executives have totally trashed this car. What started out as a beautiful vehicle in the 50's and early 60's was degraded with each successive generation until it had no more soul than a kenmore dishwasher.
I have to dosagree with your comment saying the car degraded each generation, I have a 1993 SSEi and its a beautiful car, and with the 3800 supercharged engine I have speeedd. Plus the engine goes 300k easily w/maitenence.
I have a blue 2001 bonneville. My grandfather had a 67 white bonneville coupe. Thee biggest, most beautiful, and most luxurious cars Pontiac ever produced!! Please bring the arrow head back to American roads.

Great job, love the show !!

After the ugly model years in the 70s and 80s the Bonneville design makes a strong and good "jump" in 1987 and they became more beautiful again, esp. from 1992 till 2005 they are really beautiful and sportive !!!
Nice memories to this trademark. DANKE.

From 1963 till 1969 they are beautiful - beautiful - beautiful !!!! The 70 model is a design mistake !! When I was a boy with 8 ?
I knew a man who had a Bonneville Convertible 1963 or 1964. WUNDERBAR !!! (and super rare in Germany at that times) Danke. 5*****

my dad has i think a 02 or 03. my neighbor across the street has a supercharged 05 model. its a great, smooth car=)
komahoby 3 years ago
They didn't make them supercharged in 2005. The last year for supercharged was 2003. After that the performance engine was the 4.6 litre Northstar V8.

84 was the best one

65 and 04 are the better ones

1970-1974 were hideously ugly. I can't believe people even bought cars that ugly.

I liked the 1970 models alot but I wasn't a big fan of the 1971-74's, I didn't think they were that great looking
Doobie1975 2 years ago
Amasing how they have a whole new style for each model year. It's also amasing how much the '68 model looks like a '71-'72 Ford LTD

No doubt the influence of Bunkie Knudsen from Pontiac who made the journey to Ford! LOL! :)

the 1960 boneville looks like the 1960 oldsmobile dynamic 88 with the grill looking the same

The '59 Bonnie is one of the best looking cars ever built. I also like the mid-60s Broughams. It's a shame Pontiac stopped production on this car.

@jupitr2: I would've loved that too. Born over a decade too late to even see the cars new, though....

The trims are inconsistent. It changes from the fog lights on the edges of the bumper to the lights in the center. This kind of makes it look like the fog lights are dependent on year changes.
custommadename 4 years ago
The Foglights depend on the trim level.
SE has the foglights on the outer. SSE, and SSEi have the foglights in the center.
redfan34 4 years ago
Yeah, that's fine. I have an SSEi, and I'm trying to explain that with the various trim levels, the video makes it seem as if the years are what change the look that much rather than the options.

I have a 68 Bonnie that im getting ready to restore!!!!! This video makes me want to jump on it!1

I had a '57. Bought it in El Cajon. Got married in '65 and sold the car a year later in Boston. Two very lousy decisions.

FYI I collected the pics. I drive a 1993 SLE just like the one in the video but mine is metallic purple.
youknowyouwant2 4 years ago
I had the same car, same color, it sure was a great car, sold it with 206,000 miles.

Why dont they make any cars with a nice red interior anymore? I think the automobile market right now is so lame
slashblitz 4 years ago
It's really a discgrace how the current generation of GM executives have totally trashed this car. What started out as a beautiful vehicle in the 50's and early 60's was degraded with each successive generation until it had no more soul than a kenmore dishwasher.
707320i 5 years ago
I have to dosagree with your comment saying the car degraded each generation, I have a 1993 SSEi and its a beautiful car, and with the 3800 supercharged engine I have speeedd. Plus the engine goes 300k easily w/maitenence.
