hey guys i just painted my rims and when i sanded it down i forgot to wipe all the loose dust off. Now my rims look good but have a sandy finish on them. Is this ok or am i seriously fucked? should i sand them again wipe all the dust off and paint them again?

Jk. I'd wait until they start to chip if they are fine now. After sanding, you should clean it down with a streak free cleaner or even wipe down with paint thinner. Grease/oil left on is worse than dust.

Yeah, I agree with alot of people . The stock rims have some powder coating on the rim so the paint can actually stay on and looks more cleaner. With just buying a can of spray paint and painting them just like that. They will chip with a short matter of time .

* you should sand the rims

*you should put a primer spray and sand it then add another primer

*Then you can spray your color and it would be wonderful if you finished with a clear glassy spray

You are supposed to use sand paper and use a prime surfacer,so the paint sticks better and dont get pealled off after some days,as it will happens.

And you better apply some layers of clear,at least two of them to protect and make the paint look more shiny.

This is absolutely a mistake, It does not look like u Sand pipper it at all witch means its gnna peal off in couple weeks, so before u do it again wash it couple times sand it, wash it and sand it again lightly, then run those index cards, powder coat it, and then go for a flat color, then powder coat it again wait til its dried and then run your color of choice, I did it mine jst like i explained it and it been over a year now still looks sharp, btw. use the 500 heat resistant paint nt chp 1s

yah sanding and priming is hella important..me and my buddy both painted our rims at the same time except he went the fast route and just sprayed, where as i sanded and put primer on it 1st..sure it took me 2 days but 4 months later..his look like shit and my look just as they did the 1st day i painted them haha

With the wheels and other car parts I have done, its all about the paint use. Buy paint for what you are doing and follow the directions on the can. If you use no-name brand paint then I would give the primer 2 to 4 hrs and at least 2 hours to clear coat. Personally I have had good luck with putting on a coat of clear waiting 2hrs and doing a wet sand with 1200 grit sand paper & water. clean the wheels off, dry and then clear coating 2 more times.

It is called the center cap. The best way to find out is look up the size of the Scion center cap and see if you can find a toyota one that is the same size. I'm sure toyota should have a size that will fit. I hope I am able to help.
