  • MAJOR respect for this guy.

  • I found this very therapeutic to watch! Thanks for posting!

  • he is using a dryer clay to do this.

  • back to the studio for me!

  • wow!

  • No doubt he's a talented potter, but do you think we didn't notice the gap in the film at 1:20? I can do it, too, if you cut out who knows how much footage to get it down to 2 minutes.

  • Admittedly, the jump was clearly not all that long. So rather than under two minutes, it's more like under three minutes.

  • the editing was good

  • this guy should tutor me in ceramics...

  • THAT WAS SICK!!!!!!!!!!

  • ill admit he has talent but i would say he is all that creative

  • WOW!!!

  • This isn't as impressive as it might seem. He is probably good, but he used a lot of clay, and the vase is thick as hell. I could also through very quickly if I didnt care about thickness. The first couple pulls were a little sloppy but because of the thickness it was easy to fix.

  • 50$ in 2 minutes

  • Great potter! That's some awesome clay too, would love to get hold of some of that!

  • Love it !

  • He makes it look sooo easy....

    and then you watch my...SPLAT!

    o.O

  • O.O

    .........

    Im so jelous.

  • whats the music?

  • this is beautiful...

  • Wow that's mastery; so confident, like a machine.

  • 1:17 for hot vase fisting action

  • dude's got a badass face scar

  • i want him to make me a bong

  • 観終わって5分くらい経ったかと思ったら

    2分だったでござる

  • clay got owned

  • Oh, my!! :O

With those hands, if he's married, his wife is one lucky woman!!! :)

  • i bet he makes enough in one day that he only works a day a month....

  • whats most amazing isnt the speed...

its that this piece is PERFECTLY CENTERED the entire time...

you dont see people getting a piece that centered when they take three times as long

  • yes well, I suppose you would be that quick and accurate if you've made 10,000 of the things.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. Even if the vid was sped up, it's pretty amazing. The neck pull was the most astonishing part IMO.

  • And its not even a shitty pot..lol

  • no, i know what this guy is: an earth bender

in the midst of the night it takes him only four seconds to make one gorgeous vase

at night just look out for martial arts moves nearby his home you'll see i am right

  • @165336themac An earthbender! LOL! That is awesome!!!!! And Toph can make metal ones. x-D

  • This guy's a pro.

  • i most definitely had to watch that three times before i even realized what happened. xD

  • I love how his not even sitting on a chair. Just chilling in the window frame

  • einai megalos mastoras!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this guy is a beast!!!

  • how hard can it be?

  • @morroida9966 I really hope thats sarcasm. or else im going to find you and stuff your body with clay when your dead.

  • @TheDraindeimo its not

  • @morroida9966 Have you tried sculpting by any chance?? have you tried working at speeds that he does?

  • @TheDraindeimo if i had i wouldent be saying, #how hard can it be"

  • Great video. Fast, for sure. It would have been much better to see it without the cuts where the video skipped forwards and missed some bits.

I know they didn't miss a whole lot, but it's always nicer to see the whole process.

VERY impressive how similar the vases were without using a gauge.

  • Comment removed

  • mprabo !!!!!!!!

  • Oh dear God.

    O____________O

  • there was lots of cutting

  • Fast and consistent, amazing!

  • i'd prefer it if you didnt make those annoying captions. kthx

  • That guy probably wanted to kill those fucking violin players in the background.

  • dude ..

i'm doing pottery right now and let me tell you its SO hard.

he makes it look soo easy !

i wanna be like him !

  • wow i am still holding my breath.

  • i want to be a potter...

  • I keep sending people to see this clip and a friend in Greece just asked about my knoledge of pithoi .I added a link to this clip . Long live traditional pottery !!! Yours Guy

  • Thousands of years of tradition live in this man. He is wonderful, thank you for this video!

  • AAAAAA!

    Hellas to megaleio sou!

  • The whole time he was probably thinking: "I should have had a V-8" and "OK, after work, stop by the grocery store and buy coffee, bread and potato chips". Ah, done!

  • I always spent 20 minutes just trying to center it. I'd either give up or get my art teacher to center it for me and continue to throw pieces that were crap. However, that was many years ago

  • @Tardis1217 centering is simple just push from the left corner of the clay with your palm to the right corner of the wheel. It is the most simple way to center clay as a beginner.

  • @wackedout991 dude! a wheel has no corners ;)

  • @MoodInfluenza you know what i mean :)

  • I know very few potters that could even attemp to throw with the wheel spinning that fast. what a life time of throwing can

    create!!! awesome

  • @cherrytreestudios I tried throwing that fast after watching youtube videos, I got it centered and pulled up a little and then it collapsed on itself. :P

  • semi

  • He seems to throw pretty decently, but WTH, the video frame speed has been altered--you can see the jerky movements due to increased video speed.

  • I googled this guy and couldnt find squat. How is he not famous or well known? WTF!

  • That shit was awsome

  • I know a guy who throws this fast-he calls himself a "production potter..." I'm finding more and more of his work at resale shops. Production potters don't claim to be master artists- they get paid per piece so you don't get a whole lot of the artist's "soul" in each pot. Whether he's an artist or production potter, this little dude knows his clay and just how far he can push it. So they edited 30 seconds from the film? He still ended up with a pot I'd be glad to get after a half hour struggle!

  • Oh my gosh!

If I could do this I'd be famous!!

I can only throw Bowls though =\

  • I can only hit em'

    but yeah.. wow!

  • He makes it look so easy!!! I can't even throw a f***ing cylinder.

  • good job! of course there are critics but your art is beautiful (and fast)!

  • savage. that clay had no chance

  • OK! Throwing Competition! One peace of clay 25 pounds or less, who can throw the, tallest, widest, biggest, cleanest, nicest, best shaped vase! Winner is immortalized on U-Tube forever. Every one can judge six months from now. 8/12/09. So on 2/12/09 we will tally the votes. Label the video Throwing Competition and your name. I will favorite your entry so all can see. Also when you have an entry subscribe to my Channel and I will add your video.

  • awesome

  • shit broo,

  • wtf, he's a freakin' machine

  • Now just make me a BONG!

  • talented! a real artist!

  • that guy is pro

  • nice!

  • nice...

  • magical!

  • that is amazing!!

Where can I find the music that you used?

  • Holy fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!

    that's freaking amazing!

  • ncieee

  • what a beast

  • very nice work! impresing video! one of the best potter throwing i ever saw. thanks for sharing

  • Thanks for this video, it is really beautifull to see his job...

  • Amazing!

  • This man is very talented. It looks like he is making the clay dance! What a video :)

  • Sorry guys but that's not something very special for Greece and specially for Cretethe opposite its the regular rhythm of production

  • yep i have to agree with you. if you don't know much about pottery its very impressive, however as far a creative and artistic, not so much. he has great technical skills and is fast but that's about it. a couple of bands, a wavy line, and some dots hardly constitute "creative designs"

  • that was beyond comprehension, he has so much skill and must have trained for years to perfect this.

    Amazing!!!

  • Wow, it takes a lot of arm strength to manipulate so much clay in so little time... really amazing.

  • I love watching the pull of the neck when you can see the clay dancing upwards <3

  • Not as quick as Harry Potter on a Quidditch Broom.

  • the whole "2 minute" thing would be more impressive if not for the cut around 1:20.

Still way better than I can throw though

  • A GOD

  • That was truly amazing.

  • you have cut things out of the video. so how can we turely see time..

but he does do very nice art work

  • Students .. Notice how little water is being used to lubricate his moving the material . Less water more torque. Faster throwing and more chance to mess up .. This is one sign of a master . Also he knew the weight of his clay as he ripped the material to size before putting on the wheel. He has done thousands of this pot I am shore.. All the best , Guy Wolff

  • @guywolff Since he used less water wouldnt the clay start to grip on his hands, especially with as much force as he's using on the clay?

  • @boiprof Yes thats why I said he had more torque . More water less torque . Dont get me wrong there is water for lubrication just a lot less water . Its a very fine line between extreme throwing and failure . Its the same as an expert race car driver using all his knowledge to take a corner at a ridiculously high speed. Throwing on the edge !! AN old pottery saying is "The first 1000 are the hardest " for every pot you learn to make .

  • WOW!

  • Oh my god!

  • My god...it's like his hands are breathing life into it.

  • poli wraio!

  • Bircks have been shit.

  • It's "shat".

  • shatted.

  • shatten.

  • If anything I would have corrected the word "Bircks"...and it is shit.

  • WOW.

This guy is truly amazing! A real master of the art! I love how he has such complete control at all stages, how he forms the shape from the inside and scrapes the slip off the outside all in one complete move. And then how he forms the narrow spout, a part that is usually very difficult to collar in and keep even on the top. Just amazing! An inspiration. Thanks!

  • absolutely incredible.

  • Craftsmanship= 0/10!

  • A ha ha. That's funny.

  • Comment removed

  • hey let's put a whole bunch of text right in the middle of the screen for half the video

  • I want a hand job from this guy!

  • where is he from?

  • Just started pottery, find it to be really wonderful form of relaxation, mentally tired after a few hours of it but it feels wonderful. To see this, leaves me speechless, the techniques I am developing this man has mastered. Simply wonderful to see

  • The less water the potter uses the more torque he gets .He is using very little water fore lubrication . Faster moves .. This is throwing extreme .. The first thousand were the hardest !!!!! in other words he has made a lot of these .. Thanks for showing this . The clay preparation tells a lot about his skill level as well .. five stars plus five more .. All the best , Guy Wolff

  • bingo.

  • I admire the potter and his skill. Would have enjoyed the video much more without the editing, and without the big text in the way. ;)

  • wow... he is FAST!!! ive never seen something like that before. to me, though, pottery is a therapy because of the process you go through (with the wedging and all) and the forming of the pot on the wheel. the work he does in this video is very commercial, so i hope he can have time to do something which expresses his more artistic side.

  • Incredible skills. However, I noticed a continuity error, which I normally wouldn't mention except for how much the video proclaims the speed of this potter.

Watch when he reaches his hand down the first time and we cut to a wide shot. Suddenly the lumps in the pot are gone. Why did you edit like this. I was already enthralled. You cheated!

  • I agree, there was a break at about 1:21 as the camera angle changed. The pot grew and got more refined. There was something earlier than that where the pot was starting to torque, but maybe the skill overcame that one

  • wow!!!!

  • Thank you. Even if he had done it much more slowly it would still be worth watching. I hope he gets pleasure from it, as it does seem slightly automatic going so fast.

  • how can that clay handle that...

  • I totally agree...

It must be clay from Mars! =P

  • Holy crapola! So insane. Almost looks like a special effects crew had to work on that video :)

  • that's awesome.

  • its crazy how he wedges his clay and i like the fact that throwing the form is as casual as drinking coffee but then he stops a takes his time on the fine detail work of the rim... pretty sweet...we all develop our own special methods but still have common ground with each other(no pun intended) even in foreign countries.. i find it pretty awe inspiring the definitive evidence of how ancient some of our techniques are that they show up world wide in any period of time.

  • that is insightful. I think about how throwing pottery really hasn't changed all that much over so many years. There aren't a whole lot of things one can say that about! Clay is like music. It seems to speak a common language.

  • Wow, that gives us all something to shoot for!

  • wow..... :D thanks for posting
