The Dems took over both houses in 2007 and they protected the subprime loans from being voted out. Then gas prices shot thru the roof. . The Stimulus Bill and the Cash for Clunkers Bill and Obama brought back the Cops Grants where we can hire more cops to put on the streets. Who killed that cops grant? Why Bush of course!! Only about 8% of the cabinet heads for Obama comes from the private sector so Obama and his 'brain trust' never got the memo that corps dont pay taxes--they pass on the expense. Obama wants to raise the fees on banks, well that will stunt the lending program from the banks and thus reduce the avail credit. This admin is either clueless or purposely crashing the econ.

Hey, bull, slow down, the Bush tax cuts have not been repealed yet. You know, those tax cuts the brought the unemployment down to about 4.5% and allowed the IRS to collect record revenues. No bizz person believes that raising taxes is good for their buisiness. This idea that govt interference actually helps the economy is not founded in reality. You mention investments, how the hell does paying more taxes make a company invest more money. Obama would be fired if he were a CEO.

If Pres 'control freak' had reduced taxes on the job creaters-you know, the employers-- and reduce the capital gains tax--you know, return on investments-- then we would not be in this mess. It is the private sector that built America, not govt tax and spending.

In a good debate, I am more than ready to change my perspective on things. I don't really mind US's military endeavors, it's just calling them "defense" really annoys me. Also, I asked what does "American way" really mean? Is trying to be human to your fellow citizens somehow anti-American? Hey buletov, Obama's policy rely on big govt to fix what we the citizens can fix without the govt getting in the way. Those supposed tax cuts will be short lived if obama repeals the Bush tax cuts next year. Any dollar a govt takes from the people is less freedom the people have. If Obama's policies goes thru many businesses will be taxed, the cost of products will increase, more people will be laid off--the situation that exist right now. The private sector is taking a big hit under this admin.

Citizens can't fix economy on their own, they are not the ones who caused this meltdown... it's the irresponsible corporate and banking sector that did it. And they did it because there were no regulations nor responsibility how to conduct business. Obama's team is trying to fix this not with big govt, but with common sense. hey bul, it is common knowledge that you do not raise taxes in a recession but Obama never read the memo. The 787billion was a failure. To spend over 300thousand per loss job is a failure bill. Taking money from the private sector(taxes) to bailout the public sector will not work. America is broke because of the dumbass methods that Obama choose to use. Since the goal is to get money into the private sector, taking money out of the private sector(taxes) does not really make sense.

I also share the Reps opinion that the Govt should be small and efficient, however, common-sense regulations are a necessity in modern life. Hey jstyle, check out the facts, a recession started near the end of the Clinton term, the tax cuts by Bush reduced the unemployment down to 4.5% at one point which resulted in record revenues for the IRS. The Dems took over both houses in 2007 and they protected the subprime loans from being voted out. Then gas prices shot thru the roof. . Oh yea Obama was a senator in congress which was also part of the problem in DC. Now Pres Obamamarx is trying to fix the economy? Welcome to the USSA.

LOL,i think you need to checks facts my dude...There was an economic expansion from 91' to 01' (mostly Clinton administration) followed by a minor economic decline from March 01' to November 01'(hardly a recession at all!)...Im not gonna say that Bush is completely responsible for the recession that we are in now but im absolutely sure he was banking on the oil price increases of a few summers ago...the rest is undoubtably because of irresponsible bank and loan procedures...None is Obamas fault!

Hey jstyle, it is a document fact, a slight recession when Bush took office mainly because of the IP bust near the end of the Clinton era but it was not signicficant because economies cycle up and down all the time. The idea that Bush was counting on the oil price increases does not make any sense. Surgin oil prices hurt the economy and that is why he signed an exec order to allow for more drilling which in itself brought the prices down. Obama, with ACORN, had his share in the toxic loan crap.

I didn't say anything about blacks being lazy, although some are and some aren't. Just no more lazy than us poor whites and no more energetic than whites either. I'm saying those who get rich do it no matter what the obstacles are. It's part of who they are as individuals, they just have that drive to succeed and they usually do because of it. I'm personally too lazy to work that hard for what I know doesn't bring happiness. lol

People who grow up in the same environment, well it's hard to get the next generation to step up, because of the way of life has been for them for years Maybe one out of that thousand will realize (this isn't right). For example: a rich white family, generations of riches, what are the odds of someone saying '' I don't wanna be rich anymore'', who knows maybe someone will, but really very few to none.

The Stimulus Bill and the Cash for Clunkers Bill and Obama brought back the Cops Grants where we can hire more cops to put on the streets. Who killed that cops grant? Why Bush of course!! Under cash for clunkers the auto industry saw sales jump 700%. Under the stim bill it saved hundreds of thousands of jobs by hiring more teachers and road construction jobs. This is the 'hopey changey' thing that I've been wanting. If the republicans get out of the way of the jobs bill more jobs will come too.

Higher taxes is neccessary because some people don't have the ability to get their own health insurance . Cap and trade will have a big impact of redistribution .
