Okay, i will try an explanation that lives without little green men: Seeing the amount of craters on Mars i'd say it experienced a whole bunch of asteroid/ meteoride impacts. Now what is typical to these is that they cause a melt-by-heat reaction in surrounding grounds which also get thrown up very high and dispersed in a big range. That should explain the holes in stones that are lying on the ground everywhere, and the rare and "abnormal" forms they may have.

just to let everyone know these things you see are not skulls .. They are rocks of some king.. they could either be volcano rock (lava rock) or rocks that have been altered in some way by water. There have been tons of rocks like that.. do not misunderstand these rocks shapes for skulls.

It could be armor. Maybe there's another helmet like that one also found in the Gusev Crater area. Maybe there's more armor like this near said helmet.

The center circle ok that looks like a scrap metal from somthing broken down... but what bothers me is right behind it next the the big rock looks like a face. at the 1:15 mark the center and the left circle cross, man that rock looks like a skull. just kinda wierd i thought
