I agree with you after watching transformers my expectations were really low for this , but after seeing it I was wowed by how good it was. However I didn't like the way they portrayed duke. But man snake eyes was awesome in it.

I thought the movie was brilliant, but I feared that I wasn't getting the full picture, as in not knowing the back-story and such, but now I know that there wasn't much of one, I'm relieved.

And the movie was horrible compared to the comics. They need to do a Christopher Nolan-style reboot.

Where is duke's blonde hair? Where is the baroness' european accent? Ripcard is supposed to be WHITE not black. Where are the original character uniforms from the action figures/comics? Cobra commander never had a mask like that. Where is Cobra commanders high pitched voice? Zartan in this movie looked nothing like the figure/comics There are other things that didn't go along with the original comics and 3 3/4 action figures - it gave little justice to original collectors/fans 4 out of 10
If u live in Usa and have grown up with these comics and the characters it would be a great expirience, but if you live outside the Us it is really bad, awfull, good effects and stuff but a bad movie
I've been to this site and it tells me to do a survey like all the other websites claiming to be able to show the movie for free. Why am I forced to do this and if /when I complete it, must I continually do this for every movie I watch even if I'm not downloading it and I'm simply streaming?
I know 15 year old who could write a better script for that movie(with character development)....thats how bad it was.

I really enjoyed G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra, i was really impressive on the characters, there all look so cool, and i loved it, its was very fun and loads of action, Snake vs Storm near the end was very cool, i loved that part, i am a huge of GI Joe, my favourite character is Snake-Eyes, Ray Park did amazing job playing Snake-Eyes, i cant wait for another one, nice review man

Never saw the cartoon back in the day but i do have an animated movie of it on video(pyramid of darkness) and i know about Baroness from it too.
The only thing i think they messed up is Duke and Baroness, as i recall herself and Destro are an item on the cartoon but now this...Or perhaps Duke and Baroness were married on the cartoon but nothing was revealed!

I also only had G.I.Joe as a movie of the the first few episodes or so and it was renamed Action Force, but I have recently wathced the original cartoon on youtube to see what the original was like!
Yeah, The comics were called Action Force in Europe. Ironically, writer Larry Hama's original idea was to create a spin-off series of Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. which was going to be called Fury Force. When Hama was offered G.I. Joe, he took his Fury Force story ideas and put them into G.I. Joe. Believe me, the comics were far superior to the cartoon.
rotf was a shit flick. practically EVERY live action comic/cartoon movie is altered and filled with the director's "hot ideas." it has become quite obvious to have low expectations of what hits the screen. c'on, 4 wolverine movies, the kingpin is the guy from green mile, fantastic bore, bumble bee talks like wreckgar, no punisher van, angry green guy gets a do over, alien squid doen't level ny, now baroness has a bro. next summer, ironman is only fighting the wrestler.

The best thing about the movie was Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, but neither got nearly enough screen time. And there is no way on Earth that G.I. Sorry, but Firefly was part of the Koga Ninja Clan, not the Arashikage Ninja Clan. I did read the comics, and Cobra Commander hired Firefly to kill Snake Eyes, but Firefly backed out when he realized he was no match for Snake. It was Zartan who actually trained with the Arashikage, not Firefly, and Zartan took over the job of killing Snake Eyes.

I pretty much agree with what you said. It was far better than what I expected, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. And they did flesh out most of the major characters in the film, the only exceptions are:breaker,hawk,heavy duty,zartan (i treat cover girl and sgt stone as mere cameos, so they do not even count). All-in-all, awesome movie, fast-paced, and lots of action scenes.
Actually reviewers and fans find it better. I agree with the crtics about ROTF. Sure it made a lot of money but the principle behind that movie is that the problems are the NONStop sex and drugs joke, the summoning of characters getting killed off after 5 mins of cameo, and the tedious 147 min of the same shit. The story was good and GI Joe is exactly what transformers should have been. ACTION

This is just my opinion but I actually loved this movie. I loved so much that I think Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is extremely average when in comparision to G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra! This, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are the three best movies of 2009 so far by a long shot. Again, just my opinion.
Watched the movie today. No offence anyone, but it sucks. It's freaking stupid and predictable. If I want some G.I. Joe action anytime soon, I'll rather watch Sunbow show.
I enjoyed the movie for the 1st hour. The excel suits were not to bad for me, liked that Snake Eyes was who he is without one while the other 2 although novices, still couldn't keep up with him in those things. D00d who played Commander was stiff, I thought he was Mindbender until near the end reveal. The last half reminded me of Star Wars movies and just not GI Joe. But it was good. Don't like how they needed to be captured but whatever.
My expectations were also set really low. But I walked out of the theater entertained. That's all I can hope for when I spend my 9$ on a ticket. Just to be entertained.

1. Aryans are from central Asia; they don't have blonde hair and blue eyes.
2. The Baroness is German in the comics, so she should be German in the film, period!
3. Does the military put lips on the masks of special-ops commandos like Snake Eyes?
4. Cobra Commander was not supposed to have his face and vocal chords damaged; that's what happened to Snake Eyes in the comics.
5. Larry Hama's storyline from the comics has yet to be faithfully adapted to the screen, and that's what fans want.

The only thing i think they messed up is Duke and Baroness, as i recall herself and Destro are an item on the cartoon but now this...Or perhaps Duke and Baroness were married on the cartoon but nothing was revealed!

Sadly I was never into the comic, infact the only comics I ever did read back in the day were the Sinic comics!
I also only had G.I.Joe as a movie of the the first few episodes or so and it was renamed Action Force, but I have recently wathced the original cartoon on youtube to see what the original was like!

Yeah, The comics were called Action Force in Europe. Ironically, writer Larry Hama's original idea was to create a spin-off series of Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. which was going to be called Fury Force. When Hama was offered G.I. Joe, he took his Fury Force story ideas and put them into G.I. Joe. Believe me, the comics were far superior to the cartoon.

rotf was a shit flick. practically EVERY live action comic/cartoon movie is altered and filled with the director's "hot ideas." it has become quite obvious to have low expectations of what hits the screen. c'on, 4 wolverine movies, the kingpin is the guy from green mile, fantastic bore, bumble bee talks like wreckgar, no punisher van, angry green guy gets a do over, alien squid doen't level ny, now baroness has a bro. next summer, ironman is only fighting the wrestler.

would it have been so difficult to base the story around stalker, tommy arashikage(cough, prestorm shadow) and snake eyes in the movie? perhaps toss in there what really made cobra commander go bat shit? duke and scarlett, sure. duke and ___, no way. it could've ended up a lot worse. however, a more accurate account wouldn't have hurt.

GIJoe movie was mundane. This is not something that should not be recomended for fans over 30. The truth is i cared more ablout the 80s cartoon charecters than in the movie. The Producers in Hollywood got people all figured out,"No cast-no problem, No story-no problem we'll just get a sexy girl, mix in some Halo & add alot of explosions." Wake up.Thats the same formula they use for Transformers. It's all f**ked up when mediocracy becomes norm & everyone goes along with it.

The best thing about the movie was Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, but neither got nearly enough screen time. And there is no way on Earth that G.I. Joe is better then Transformers 2, sh*t, I even thought the Wolverine movie was better and I was really pissed off at how they f*cked up Deadpool. All in all, the G.I. Joe movie was just ok for me, defiantly not one of the best movies of the summer, where as Transformers 2 was.

Sorry, but Firefly was part of the Koga Ninja Clan, not the Arashikage Ninja Clan. I did read the comics, and Cobra Commander hired Firefly to kill Snake Eyes, but Firefly backed out when he realized he was no match for Snake. It was Zartan who actually trained with the Arashikage, not Firefly, and Zartan took over the job of killing Snake Eyes.

I pretty much agree with what you said. It was far better than what I expected, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. And they did flesh out most of the major characters in the film, the only exceptions are:breaker,hawk,heavy duty,zartan (i treat cover girl and sgt stone as mere cameos, so they do not even count). All-in-all, awesome movie, fast-paced, and lots of action scenes.

Actually reviewers and fans find it better. I agree with the crtics about ROTF. Sure it made a lot of money but the principle behind that movie is that the problems are the NONStop sex and drugs joke, the summoning of characters getting killed off after 5 mins of cameo, and the tedious 147 min of the same shit. The story was good and GI Joe is exactly what transformers should have been. ACTION
In GI Joe everyone in the movie is acknowledged fairly.
The story for ROTF is better than GIJoe yeah

This is just my opinion but I actually loved this movie. I loved so much that I think Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is extremely average when in comparision to G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra! This, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are the three best movies of 2009 so far by a long shot. Again, just my opinion.

I enjoyed the movie for the 1st hour. The excel suits were not to bad for me, liked that Snake Eyes was who he is without one while the other 2 although novices, still couldn't keep up with him in those things. D00d who played Commander was stiff, I thought he was Mindbender until near the end reveal. The last half reminded me of Star Wars movies and just not GI Joe. But it was good. Don't like how they needed to be captured but whatever.
