  • I Love this song ! Is there a way that I can download it on a flash drive?

  • @KathySchrockable you can get it on itunes i know that much

  • Back in the 80's I went to just about every Kingsmen & Cathedral Quaetet concert in Springfield, Missouri. Nothing better then good old southern gospel & the old hymns.

  • i am so happy you posted this song my aunt has been trying to find it for her husband again thank you

  • Just stopping in to share National Sunday Law by A. Jan Marcussen=)

  • I miss Ernie so much, but his son Eric sure has carried on the family name and the true tenor voice.. We love you Ernie!!!

  • This was while Ernie was still part of the group and also where Anthony Burger became known in the Gospel. Ernie is still singing elsewhere and Anthony is now singing with the angels. I really miss him!

  • Could someone please put the lyrics up! Ive looked everywhere for them!!!

  • @tinaallender my sister and i did this song and i put the lyrics in the discription you should check it out lenalu2061 shake hands with a poor boy

  • Larry, did you feel that way with "Still Drinking Water From The Well"? I like a good bass lead. Sure you wouldn't necessarily want a whole album or even necessarily a whole song without harmonies and switching parts or maybe an album without changing keys and ranges, but to say basses should not sing verses or leads is not the opinion of many of us. People like RIchard Sterban, George Younce, Tim Riley, Noel Fox, and others sound / sounded good.

  • Sounds like you heard all the greats! Any quartet needs that base and of course that high tenor!! The kingsmen are know to each take a part an go with it.

  • someone should put the song MASTER I SEE by the kingsmen on here asap!!!!

  • Squire sang with the Kingsmen from1974-1979 . Ernie came to sing with them after Johnny Parrackl left. It was around 1975 I believe.

  • I sang with Calvin Runions' son Danny Runion in the Bible College Quartet during our Junior year in college. I would love to do that again!!!

  • " Little Ernie" sings with the Land of Sky Boys from Asheville. He and Raymond Mckinney are old Kingsmen members. Ernie has been sick this year. He had a cancerous growth removed from his stomach. and has been taking chemo.

  • Hi, Do you know the year of this video with Little Ernie? Also do you know which years Squire Parsons sang with this group? Thanks

  • Beautiful song love the words!

  • Correction: Ernie Phillips sang tenor for the Kingsmen from early 1977 to late 1983. Johnny Parrack finished out the year 1976 when he was voted Favorite Tenor.

  • Why did the inventor of the mandolin not find an easier finger arrangement for A. This song is in D, so you have to hit A and G in this song. Not to mention A7. I can play this same arrangement on the guitar, but try it on the mandolin, your fingers will split! Trust me, I've tried playing A-chrod on a mandolin. You need lo....ong fingers!

  • I can play A7 now! A major is a little harder though.

  • "A" chord is the same finger position as G Or D Chord. They are just in different frets ?

  • Don't you just love Ray Reese's smile?!

  • I believe he's got one of the best store bought smiles money can buy! :))

  • Yes indeed, Ernie Phillips is amazing and Eric has followed in his footsteps!! Ernie, we love and miss you soooooo much!!!! I have to say though, that when i have seen and heard Eric i close my eyes and see Ernie. I love this video, and i love the Kingsmen!!!

  • with this line-up i would estimate no earlier than '82 and no later than '83.

  • John Edwards?

  • Grew up with "Live @ University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa". Great, Great memories! Thanks.

  • Thanks for reminding me! I just loved the opening to that album ("album"--boy, that dates me, doesn''t it?)--"R-o-l-l Tide!" The crowd went wild, and it even sent chills up and down the spine of this LSU fan! The "Mighty Kangsmen"--I miss those guys.

  • what a tenor..great all around, but what a tenor, anyone know what the tenors name is?

  • Ernie Phillips

  • The tenor for Mark Trammel Trio is Ernie's son, Eric Phillips...they're pretty similar in height ;)

  • "Little" Ernie Phillips is the tenor's name. I don't know who he sings with today. I believe this was in 1988 or 1989.

  • Much older. Try 1980-1983! Just because Ernie has those giant 80's glasses doesn't mean this is the late 80's.

  • Yes, you are indeed correct. The early eighties is when Ernie was with this group, & which I had seen these guys in concert in Atlanta, Ga way back in either late 82 or early 83. This little guy was so great & blew me away with his super high voice.

  • He was with them from '76-'83.

  • Ernie sings with the Land of the Sky Boys, more of just a local group. I don't think they travel much, but I'm not sure.

  • The tenor is Ernie Phillips....The Little Giant

  • I thought that was Gerald Wolfe, the other short singer.

  • I am a Yankee from New England but my grandma loved gospel music when I was growing up. I got saved in 1992 in the Navy in SC and knew absolutely nothing about Christian music. When I went to Zondervan's to buy some Christian music I bought the only thing I knew, quartet music. I bought a Kingsmen compilation album and from then on I think of the time of my life of my conversion and my baptism I also think of the Kingsmen and how the music blessed me. Thanks for posting this.

  • This is great stuff!

  • My daughter and I saw Ray Reese last month in Ft. Pierce with his group the Kingsmen Quartet. He sounds just as great today if not better. Very good group he has put together of nice young men.

  • This is just great. What a collection you must have. To see Ray Dean Reese then and to know he is still going on with the Kingsmen Quartet. WOW What a good bass singer and to see Big Jim and Anthony Burger. This is truely amazing to watch. Thanks for posting.

  • great stuff, i'll take all you put on utube. never got to see this combination, get goose bumps watching these guys. ernie, jim, squire, ray, to hear the music, then see them preform is electricfing. keep'em coming. your friend kings4me

  • Thats classic Kingsmen!!! Thank you so much for posting this

  • That's Wayne Maynard playing bass behind Ray. You see him a couple times.
