  • two geniuses, nothing else matters!

In my place of heaven I want them to be together..

    wonderful!!!

  • I was fortunate to see Jobim and Frank Sinatra on TV years ago. It was fantastic!

  • wow never heard this version before! so relaxing, beautiful

  • Absolutely, stunning.

  • "fly me to the moon" is jazz originally

  • Bossa Nova.

  • It sounds liek the guys jacking off Frank SInatras version is the best

  • wonder who's the sucker that disliked this..no offence

  • more like bossanova than jazz...

  • @EvilRipley more like :D thats bossa

  • @EvilRipley

Yeah, that's what crossed my mind within the first few seconds of hearing this. But anywho, it's nonetheless a nice piece :D

  • @EvilRipley

Actually it's just the intro that has a latin-feel and the rest is a medium tempo swing. There is a transition from this intro to the main body of the song at 0:57, where the rhythm section elides into swing for the remainder of the song.

Incidentally the latin-feel intro was just Frank's way of tipping his hat to Jobim - very classy.

  • @dekatronic lol yes, so it seems, i had never passed the 45 second limit... i hate bossanova

  • @EvilRipley

Ha ha, I hope you enjoyed the rest of the recording. And I think you would have otherwise missed the best part of the song at 1:04, where Jobim says to Sinatra, "Francis ... that's why." The chemistry between Sinatra and Jobim is effortless.

  • @dekatronic He says "francis, lets fly!"

  • @EvilRipley

    bossanova IS jazz....brazilian jazz

  • @hkpopfan4lif3 Ture but the style is competely different from Trad and smooth

  • @hkpopfan4lif3 as some other user stated, this starts with a bossanova beat and the rest is more jazz like. there is no such thing as brazillian jazz. bossanova is a subgenre and its derived from SAMBA, jazz is just an influence. learn your music.

  • @EvilRipley

well, why thank you. I learned something new today

  • @EvilRipley umm........ bossanova IS jazz?

  • @djjjamin Yes, is a kind of Latin jazz

  • @EvilRipley doesn't matter, it's GOOD :D :D

  • @EvilRipley who cares Mister

  • @EvilRipley bossa intro then swing jazz when the lyrics come in... so you cant blame it :P

  • @EvilRipley Which is a styling of Jazz.

Jazz is a pretty broad music. There are a few key chordal progressions and notes that makes something Jazz.

  • can listen to this song for the rest of my life and never get bored! i love it!!!!!!!

  • love this song

  • I felt it necessary to remind you that Frank Sinatra is singing a duet with Antônio Carlos Jobim, one of the most important Brazilian composers.

  • @Regina1952 I love them both

  • @kelevaser Thanks!

  • @Regina1952
