Well, almost canon... actually both sets (Tomo/Yomi and Yukari/Nyamo) are long time best friends/worst enemies.

But this one girl (Kaorin) has a HUGE crush on an other girl (Sakaki).

Azumanga Daioh is a really amazing and reandom comedy; it uses romance as a tool to make things more funny, but doesn'thav any 'real' couples (exept Sakaki and cats... but I won't ruin that series-long running joke)
