Well, if it's lacking the one thing you're looking for... But there's still plenty to like as far as I'm concerned. The transition at 3:46 is... uhh... but from there on it's all excellent, and the solo is one of the best I've heard in a while.
The melodic lines remind me of Periphery in places (I'm thinking Racecar or All New Materials)...but they're incorporated in a distinctly death metal context. I like it!
Reminds me a fair bit of Gorod (who are one of my all-time favourite bands, to clarify). Sounds to me just like another side of the sound you already showed in your older songs - like a slower-paced song of the same style. It's not a new sound as far as I'm concerned, it's just not playing the exact same song either. Don't get where some people are coming from here :P
awesome song! However, I have yet to hear a track from you guys that lives up to your band name ;) It suggests genre bending, while you music can be completely identified as melodic tech death. I do however appreciate the groovy aspects to this song. I can tell its your "Sons of Belial." But still, patiently waiting for you guys to write a song that 1ups the faceless. If anyone can do it, its you. Keep up the amazing work!
I'm really, really sorry to say this, but actually I'm a bit dissapointed.... I liked your 3 song demo because of the classical, melodic, yet technical approach, but this is more groovy and "boring" in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, I still like the track, but I'm just not really impressed with it, and it certainly does not have anything that I find memorable after a listening through a couple of times... But I'm still a fan, and I will buy your album. Hope you haven't changed too much....
@tgnu "Boring" is way too harsh a term, but yeah, it's quite linear. There's no clear upward progression or section of increasing tension - and so, of course, no real need for release. 3:12 works well, but I feel it doesn't quite "takes flight", so to speak. Try Obliveon's Obscure Mindways at 2:45 and on for probably my favorite example of metal that proceeds in "waves" that carry the melody ever higher right up to the solo. Personally I like this a lot more than the all over the place approach!
@Ibucrthis I get what you are saying with metal in waves, and I agree with you very much on that. But I still stand by my opinion on it being "boring" - to me it is. Not that I don't like it, I guess I just expected a little more from them......
This a actually a one-up for me, i really feel like you guys have been around for years. some bands play on the whole endurance aspect of keeping a high bpm mark, but you guys do that, while STILL writing great, ambient, thought out music. You all seem so.....Professional to me, even with your current means of production, mixing, and mastering. = )
One more time,
Annie's charming voice and vocal style haunts me...
It adds a lot, even that little bit.
and no need to mention how musicianship is so brilliant in overall!

The clean part reminds me vaguely of Cynic too.
