What makes this fellow officer a hero, and what makes ignorant people make comments like that is even though this person hates police officers, and as a coward hides behind the anonymity granted here, is that this officer still would have given their life to protect the person who hates them. Someone else having that amount of honor, dignity and valor is what infuriates the people who hate police officers. Because they know they never will have that.
