@pc4gamers It was probably a construction error, not an human error. After this accident an american power plant similar to the Chernobyl one was closed.

@pushpull76 No the operator of the plant decided to do the test at dangerously low levels and raised the rods out of the water to put more steam out but it heated up too much that the rods couldnt be placed back down so the graphite started to burn and theres the meltdown. This could of never of happened if the operator stuck to the guidlines also the RBMK - 1000 was a dangerous reactor because of the graphite and the lack of backups but it was mostly the operators fault

@pushpull76 No the RBMK 1000 was a dangerous reactor but the operator did the test below 200mw so they pulled the rods out which made the reactor unstable you are correct about the reactor but the reason for it to go meltdown at the time was because the operator started the test at a unstable power level and when they raised it the reactor became unstable and made its power sore to unstable levels causeing meltdown but the reason why so much radiation came out cause the graphite caught on fire.

Radiation can be carried on the wind, but it disapates as it travels, the fallout from chernobyl made it as far as england, as you can clearly see in the video, it may have had some small effects but nothing serious ;) I used to worry about that too, but researching the subject greatly relived me.
