You could also check the big 4 thrash metal bands( metallica, slayer, megadeth and Anthrax) and generally you should hear some thrash metal in general. You will love bands like exodus, sodom, kreator, destruction etc... You would also like some power metal like Hammerfall, Iced Earth, Sabaton and of course Manowar.Try also some hard rock, less heavy bands... Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin an bon jovi.. :)

From their glam rock days in the 80's to their grunge core sound of the 90's they were far more popular than you kids might think. Bands like this and even metallica, anthrax, iron maiden, corrosion of conformity, ect all based their careers on being "underground" while at the same time headlining world tours selling 60,000 seats a show.

When I was a kid, from 89-94, I was surprised because you never heard this on the radio but I saw white zombie at the palace of auburn hills, 30,000 people crowd even though when I went there I thought I was only one of a small few who knew of them.
