"A Different Kind of Truth" will be released in the United States on Feb 7 but the first single, "Tattoo," and its accompanying video, will debut on Jan 10. Roth's last album with the group was the popular "1984," released on Dec 31, 1983.
ALL of the songs on this new record are old rehashed tunes from the 70's Roth era that they never released, She's the Woman, Piece of Mind, We Die Bold etc.

Good music is good music regardless of who does what on the inside and how one band member treats another over someone else. 80% of the hearsay on the net is bogus anyway with forums by FANS who blab. I'm sure some fans have inside info, but they are VERY few. 2nd, who cares how Wolfgang gets along with his family and Valerie. That shouldn't be the reason a VH fan turns on the music they grew to love. Enjoy the music, stay out of their politics and live your lives. Politics kills art and music.
Michael Anthony will be back when Valerie's gonna take Wolfgang out of the band in order to avoid his son hanging out with drunk/drug-addicted like Eddie & Co.

One of the true attractions to the Van Halen sound IS Michael Anthony. His backing vocals are so enjoyably toxic, it's hard to imagine the group without him. Wolf tries hard (internally-on the outside he looks rather bored). Bring back MA and the magic will be back.
I've figured it all out...Van Halen is working on a new album with Roth and Black Sabbath is in the studio making an album with Ozzy...Eddie Van Halen and Tony Iommi were on the cover of Guitar World together just recently...I predict here and now that Sabbath and Van Halen will tour together next summer like they did in the late seventies when Van Halen put out theyre first album...its gonna happen.
Everytime I see David Lee Roth I think how much he looks like Kristy Alley and Kesly Grammer. It's funny but I had friended Eddie Van Halen on myspace and I said something about the cheapest tickets at their Charlotte, N.C. show being $150.00 and I was deleted. It was a great show but the back up band was Reggae.

Several years ago i heard an interview with Eddie on Howard Stern .He said his son Wolfie could play anything on guitar that he could but faster. I don't know if that is just fatherly pride but it won't likely be the bass lines that suck on the new cd. We'll miss Mikes vocals for sure but any producer worth his salt will recreate them with overdubs and pitch tricks in mixing. It's all about whether the songs are well written. The word is they are using old demos to start the songs. Nice!

If I got the chance to play with VH i would turn it down.

F Mike, guys. Van Halen is Eddie and Dave. Mike can be replaced. Alex is a brother and should stay. I used to love the original line up until I started to really listen and pick up what Van Halen is. Alex and Eddie have impeccable timing. Ever notice how Eddie jumps to let his brother know when to come in? They speak to each without words. Dave is amazing at vocals. A little flamboyant at times but still rocks at his roots, no Hagar pop shit. Mike has been replaced. Will not miss Mike!

Gary Cherone was the biggest additional letdown to this band. Sammy sucks and just never did the band justice. If Ed, Wolfie, Diamond Dave and Alex came to my city you can be sure I would buy a ticket. Well Wolfie will never surpass Mikey as a bassist or kick back vocalist, really the kid is not bad. He does have a long way to go though. You just can't replace Mikey. No one will or ever could!! I have been following this band literally since the 80's and I am brand loyal.
That said...I also love Sammy Hagar and EVERYTHING he's done. Though I was upset when he joined Van Halen, he is still miles ahead of DLR at this time and would be benficial to VH. DLR WAS the frontman of frontmen and I hope he can improve upon their last live showings but barring that, they need Sammy AND Michael to make their concerts more than just nostalgic.
DLR is 57. This band has long passed it's prime.Though my fav lineup is Roth,Ed,Alex and Mike,I don't think bringing back Mike will make up for this.The attraction to their concerts was always the energy.The music needs Mike no doubt but you can't compensate for the missing element of performance with a missing member at this stage.Loved this band but Dave now looks like a senior citizen that just yelled BINGO on stage. Ed should have controlled himself in the 90's and they'd still have the best lineup they ever could have today. Eddie was the downfall to his own band. - I'll still end up seeing them live and buying the concert but I'd be much happier with an early Roth or Hagar and Mikey still.
@ludwigking You are right. In most bands you can replace the bassist without changing the chemistry or sound. Of course you cant replace Geddy Lee or Simmons. or a few others. But. In Van Halen you cannot replace Michael. Remember, his vocals were premium in the VH. sound. And his stage persona are no match for the young spoiled punk named Wolfgang. Get him off the fucking stage and leave it to the pros. There will never be a true VH album or tour without Michael.

Its all a wait and see ......from what I understand Van Halen are writing and recording (via VHND) as we speak (Jan 2011) Dave said as much to a fan back in Sept 2010 that '“You’ll be hearing from us in the next 7-8 months” - meaning approx April-May 2011. Unless he is deliberately punking us, I'm happy to sit and wait - it also appears that they have a new producer on board, John Shank and the album will possibly be recorded at both 5150 and at Shank's Henson Studio's -check VHND for details

Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell will continue to administer their catalog of works. This press release also stated that the group is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth, that is due for release in 2011. It's been confirmed all over the place that Van Halen is recording a new album set for a 2011 release. The band has confirmed a new album, and a world tour. I've heard all over TV, the radio, and from a lot of excited Van Halen fans.
It is not mentioned on the website because Van Halen is notorious for being a bit lazy with the "internets".

But, at a Live Nation press conference last month, the CEO of Live Nation said that Van Halen is on the Live Nation 2011 roster and they're already booking the tour to go along with a new album that's currently being recorded.

I expect nothing less than a fuckin brillant album because he had time enough to compose kickass songs. Edward is super talented as a guitarist as well as a composer/songwriter. Several years ago i heard an interview with Eddie on Howard Stern .He said his son Wolfie could play anything on guitar that he could but faster. I don't know if that is just fatherly pride but it won't likely be the bass lines that suck on the new cd. We'll miss Mikes vocals for sure but any producer worth his salt will recreate them with overdubs and pitch tricks in mixing. It's all about whether the songs are well written. The word is they are using old demos to start the songs. Nice!

VH played 90% of the bass on all the VH records... And well its pretty god damn simple, so that's what Mikey played... But in the chickenfoot record, his bass lines are MUCH more better than the bass lines in the VH records. And why would Billy be playing with them? If I got the chance to play with VH i would turn it down.

F Mike, guys. Van Halen is Eddie and Dave. Mike can be replaced. Alex is a brother and should stay. I used to love the original line up until I started to really listen and pick up what Van Halen is. Alex and Eddie have impeccable timing. Ever notice how Eddie jumps to let his brother know when to come in? They speak to each without words. Dave is amazing at vocals. A little flamboyant at times but still rocks at his roots, no Hagar pop shit. Mike has been replaced. Will not miss Mike!

Gary Cherone was the biggest additional letdown to this band. Sammy sucks and just never did the band justice. If Ed, Wolfie, Diamond Dave and Alex came to my city you can be sure I would buy a ticket. Well Wolfie will never surpass Mikey as a bassist or kick back vocalist, really the kid is not bad. He does have a long way to go though. You just can't replace Mikey. No one will or ever could!! I have been following this band literally since the 80's and I am brand loyal.

That said...I also love Sammy Hagar and EVERYTHING he's done. Though I was upset when he joined Van Halen, he is still miles ahead of DLR at this time and would be benficial to VH. DLR WAS the frontman of frontmen and I hope he can improve upon their last live showings but barring that, they need Sammy AND Michael to make their concerts more than just nostalgic.

DLR is 57. This band has long passed it's prime.Though my fav lineup is Roth,Ed,Alex and Mike,I don't think bringing back Mike will make up for this.The attraction to their concerts was always the energy.The music needs Mike no doubt but you can't compensate for the missing element of performance with a missing member at this stage.Loved this band but Dave now looks like a senior citizen that just yelled BINGO on stage. Sorry guys

Understand that Van Halen = Ed, David, Michael Anthony and Alex. I hate Van Hagar! As for Eddies son Wolfie, what's he going to do? Kick him out of the band? I don't think so! He's there to stay! Michael Anthony ain't coming back anytime soon. Wolfie is young and inexperienced give him a chance! I don't think he compares to Mikey. Don't listen if you don't like it! Ed had a serious problem with drinking. Alcoholics can't control themselves!

i think i started to loose interest not when they decided to get a new bass player but when they didnt have the balls to call mike and then tried a real weasle move by pulling his image off of the albums and even going so far as putting wolfies on a album that was released 13 yrs before he was born.i seen alot of the last tour and wasnt impressed but if you wanna pay $100 for that then its your money.

@LedWilde It's Van Halen with any singer. Without Micheal Anthony, and brining back DLR seeing that he can't sing for shit anymore without probably a load of studio processing it's a huge mistake. Ed should have controlled himself in the 90's and they'd still have the best lineup they ever could have today. Eddie was the downfall to his own band. - I'll still end up seeing them live and buying the concert but I'd be much happier with an early Roth or Hagar and Mikey still.

@ludwigking You are right. In most bands you can replace the bassist without changing the chemistry or sound. Of course you cant replace Geddy Lee or Simmons. or a few others. But. In Van Halen you cannot replace Michael. Remember, his vocals were premium in the VH. sound. And his stage persona are no match for the young spoiled punk named Wolfgang. Get him off the fucking stage and leave it to the pros. There will never be a true VH album or tour without Michael.

Its all a wait and see ......from what I understand Van Halen are writing and recording (via VHND) as we speak (Jan 2011) Dave said as much to a fan back in Sept 2010 that '“You’ll be hearing from us in the next 7-8 months” - meaning approx April-May 2011. Unless he is deliberately punking us, I'm happy to sit and wait - it also appears that they have a new producer on board, John Shank and the album will possibly be recorded at both 5150 and at Shank's Henson Studio's -check VHND for details

@Hunkola In August of 2010 Warner/Chappell Music extended its administration agreements with Van Halen (specifically Edward and Alex Van Halen). Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell will continue to administer their catalog of works. This press release also stated that the group is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth, that is due for release in 2011. It was all over the internet, & this quote is from van halens Wikipedia.

And if you did'nt notice Dave rejoined Van Halen in 2007 & toured with them, & I'm pretty sure they hashed out their legal issues before that tour. It's been confirmed all over the place that Van Halen is recording a new album set for a 2011 release. The band has confirmed a new album, and a world tour. I've heard all over TV, the radio, and from a lot of excited Van Halen fans.
It is not mentioned on the website because Van Halen is notorious for being a bit lazy with the "internets".
And come on, Hunkola, don't be a douche, Mustard was just pointing out the obstacles this record has to go through.

@Hunkola The Van Halen website is rarely updated. They won't post anything until the release date is announced. But, at a Live Nation press conference last month, the CEO of Live Nation said that Van Halen is on the Live Nation 2011 roster and they're already booking the tour to go along with a new album that's currently being recorded.
