@ricardoieci I tested the Iron Cobra and it felt heavy for me. I had a DW 5002 pedal and I also felt it heavy, I switched to the Gibraltar and I instantly felt that it is a lighter feel pedal. I think you have to test them all so you can give your opinion, it is very personal so I really can't say that this pedal is better, just different, all those companies make great products.
@skah07 Yes I do! I'm playing with a band called Quebra-Cabeça. We mix Rock with Brazilian music. My dad was a drummer and he used to do the same in the 70's with a band called Novos Baianos. Please check my band's Facebook page at:
Recently bought a Gibraltar crash stand and the guy in the shop said they came from the same factory as DW stands and sure enough a lot of the fittings are exactly the same as my DW stand but for less than half the price. Really good value gear. Great drumming by the way.
thinking of getting one after years of using DW pearl, and tama..how stable is this pedal in terms of mechanism, hardware adjustability, and smoothness and fluidity? ..your opinion would make my decision a little easier..i will however try it out for myself, regardless ...great drumming and foot work , by the way !
@blica1 Thanks for your comments!! I switched to Pearl recently but I can give you my impressions about Gibraltar's DD. It is a great pedal, very simple, direct drive link, very responsive to your foot. I was pretty happy with it and as you can see in this video, it made my work easier. There are other DD pedals in the market, some are a bit lighter that the Gibraltar but I think you must test all the pedals before buying. Which pedal are you using now?
@1982Rafael thanks for your reply ..i'm currently using the pearl eliminator with belt drive which i find is a lot quicker on the uptake than the chain, which is why i think like the direct drive might be intersting ..i tried the new yamaha and it was amazing for it's function and price..but i think i still might try the gibraltar..i know they're close in price terms, so it's just a matter of personal feel..are you using the demon drive from pearl now ? i tried it out and found too light !
@blica1 I'm using the P900 from Pearl, the entry-level pedal. It came with my Pearl Vision kit. I'm still getting used to it but I can play everything I used to play with my Gibraltar (it is a bit harder to play some fast stuff). The Demon Drive is the best pedal I ever played. That light feel is what I'm looking for. I used to play with a Pearl P100 and an old Yamaha pedal (the model before Flying Dragon). That Yamaha still is the best pedal for me. Try the Gibraltar, I think you'll like it!
@narutoop1 I can't really give you a review on Axis pedals because I played them only once with a bass drum pad. I thought that the DD is lighter and faster (more responsive).
Wooooooooooow! I bought a similar Gibraltar pedal from 6611 series with double chain today and it's great! But I think that this is even better! Btw, awesome skills!
@1982Rafael oh yeah sorry that is what i meant, i am getting a gibraltar double bass pedal and cant decide on what to get. what is better the direct drive or the strap on. the strap on is made out of kevlar material or something like that, but it says that there is not resistance. its like playing air i guess. could you help me decide.
@zacheryds I have tested the chain version and I didn't like it, the strap drive version I haven't tested yet so I can't really give you a review about it. It is probably something between the chain drive and the direct drive. A bit more responsive than the chain and lighter.
@LukeSnyderMusic I had a DW5000 AD3 pedal. It is lighter than the DW and I it reacts faster too. I'm still trying different settings, there are lots of ways to change the feel (spring setting, pedal height, beater distance, the beater itself). I've only changed the beater height to what I was used to but I have to do some more testing.
I like the pedal so far, it is a nice pedal, well constructed, looks good, feels good and comes with a nice bag.
its longboard or your feet are small???
